Reviews for Old Man Emu FKWTJ02 Track Bar Relocation Bracket for 97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ & Unlimited
You have to drill a couple holes to mount this but it does not change the factory hole. So if you go to an adjustable rear and don't need the bracket anymore you can do that. It worked with my 2" BDS spring and shock lift and had the rear axle centered up well.
perfect fit on my 97 Jeep TJ with 2" lift
Only 2 holes to drill make it an easy install and puts the body back where it belongs.
As noted by others, the bolts are too short, but if you leave one flat washer off, they'll work and the product seems well made. The instructions are a bit overstated, understated and questionable, all in one. Overstated and understated is removal of the coil spring. That's no easy task, but also not imperative. With the right length drill/extension, I was able to drill the hole without removing the spring. For the top hole, you'll probably want a 90 degree drill.
You'll probably want to unbolt the track bar from the frame as well, which is easy, to get it out of the way, though they only tell you to unbolt the axle end.
As the TSA says, "pack your patience" when it comes to getting the nuts on. They're buried inside the original mounting housing, and hard to get at. Plan on using the brail method to get them started. Also, while the instructions tell you to use the original bolt to mount the bar to the new bracket, I found it easier to use it in it's original location, to mount the new bracket, and use the supplied bolt to mount the bar. The original bolt has a nut with a tab on the back ('99 TJ at least), so you don't need a wrench to secure it inside the mount housing.
This bracket is good for the price, but the bolts are too short to use both the flat and split washer. It fit well and I works good, but it would have been so easy to just supply slightly longer bolts.
This product does the job. That said, the bolts provided are too short to work with all of the washers provided. The instruction sheet is fairly clear, but does not provide explanation on which washers to use for each bolt. Lastly, there were some defects in the kit I bought. The spacer provided was about 1mm too short, but worse than that was additional material that needed to be removed before I could put a bolt through it (see picture). In conclusion, this will raise your track bar, it worked for me. But it was a hassle.
