Reviews for Teraflex Nebo Roof Rack for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JK 4 Door
Great product. Very minimal and extremely strong. Took me an entire day to complete.
This is a great rack that allows you to save some money and skip the slats if you don't need them. We were looking for a way to mount a roof top tent, no need for the excess cost or labor to deal with slats. It's very clean looking and low-profile, which was very important for our garage clearance.
The install is time consuming, but the instructions are great and the YouTube video from Teraflex gives a great walk-through for visual learners. Pay special attention to the part about leaving the brackets a little loose to get everything lined up. If you skip this and tighten it down from the start, you WILL have issues getting the four large bolts to line up.
Bought this elsewhere and had it professionally installed. Looks fantastic, feels really strong. No leaks (the professionals did a great job). Hauls my sea kayaks and a cargo basket on my JKU. The brackets did interfere somewhat with aftermarket head liners that were already installed but I just folded back the corners, all good. The considered competition to this was products by Rhinorack but there didn't seem to be good options for installing Thule crossbars and Hullavator kayak carriers. Very satisfied.
I love this roof rack. Like others, I considered an external rack for mounting my roof top tent, but didn't want that structure on the jeep all the time. While more expensive, this rack is slick and strong. Installation is not quick, and you have to remove and install the hard top several times before you are done. But just follow along with Dennis Wood's YouTube video as you go and it will be fine. The engineering, quality and fit of the rack is really remarkable for an after-market product. I also like the fact that I can now attach a board to the roof rack and use it as a lifting point to remove the top. I bought just two of the cross bars in case I want to use it for general carriage, but for just the roof top tent I didn't need them. I do wish the rack and the cross bars were a little cheaper, but I am glad I spent the extra money to get something well designed, functional and stylish.
Let me start by saying I did a lot of research on roof racks that can actually carry decent loads. Of the two I found, this one looks the best, imo, so what follows is constructive criticism.
The finished installation looks about a close to OEM as one could expect. I just finished the install minutes ago, so I can't speak to whether there are any leaks, wind noise, etc.
This is a serious weekend project. I'm really good with tools and installs (used to repair damaged aircraft) and this took me 8 hours to complete by myself. The written instructions are terrible. You will have to use the YouTube videos to figure out what goes where. I found one part of the instructions where the same part number is used for both the driver and passenger sides; that is not the case.
The paper drill and cut template works fine. Take your time to measure twice then drill once.
The mounting hardware is fine, with a major exception of the two rear bolts that go up into the Nebo Rack from the inside of the hard top. Fender washers, really? They look just terrible inside the vehicle and stand out like a sore thumb.
Adding slats is going to be a major chore as you have to disassemble the rear of the rack to slide the slat into the rail slot on each side. Poor design.
Bottom line, it's a good rack and there really isn't much else like it on the market. I would have given four stars if the instructions were better (mold in "R" and "L" along with "FRONT" on each plastic component) and I hadn't gotten a damaged slat. One of the slats was packaged perfectly with a serious gouge in the black slat surface. Somebody missed that in the quality check before packaging. Of course Quadratec rectified the situation immediately. Kudos to them.
Well built with and good installation directions. No noise at all at any speed, no leaks, and I can stand on top of it.
v. satisfied with the nebo rack, had it for almost 2 month now and used it on road as well as heavy offloading
