Reviews for Griffin Radiator & Thermal Products 5-00152 Offroad Series Aluminum Radiator for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Well built and quality welds. Very pleased
Nice
SO 11 MONTHS LATER 2 RUBICON TRIPS NUMEROUS OTHER TRIPS THIS RADIATOR DELOPED A LEAK UDER TEMPURATURE HMMM KINDA DISAPOINTED IN WHAT I THOUGHT WOULD BE A FOREVER RADIATOR . TE GUYS AT QUADRATEC FIXED ME UP BETTER THAN EXPECTED. HOW CAN I BE UPSET. THANKS QUADRATEC
First off, the stock radiator cap works just fine in this radiator. I wasn't sure, needed a replacement ASAP (see below), so I ordered the griffin one anyway. It's lucky the stock one fit, because the griffin cap is still on backorder a couple weeks later.
It appears to be well made, and did not leak right away like the AFE one it replaced. It is not as thick as the AFE one, but looks to provide more cooling than stock. The installation was much easier than the AFE due to it being a little smaller.
It loses a star because it does not come with the required hardware for installation, and it's a little frustrating that a $350 radiator doesn't come with less than $2 of 1/4-20 bolts and washers (I used 7 bolts 3/4" long with washer and lock washer, 1/2" long would also work) Although it's fine, I would have preferred metric fasteners because all other bolts on a JK (except maybe some axle hardware?) is metric.
fits nice, good warranty
Easy install and seemed to be well built. Mild off road usage, no mud bogging, just snow and logging roads, and 19 months later it’s leaking from both tanks at the core/tank joints. Not a little leak, it’s terrible. Hoping to get it replaced ASAP but Qtec is closed when I’m off work. I sincerely hope that if I can get it replaced, that the new one lasts longer.
The radiator was fairly easy to install and worked great for about a year or so. Now it slowly leaks on both sides. The side pieces and the core are not welded or soldered together or even press fit; they are glued together by an ivory colored epoxy, which apparently cannot handle the heat from engine coolant. The glue has darkened to dark brown near the inlet and outlet hoses and is crumbling away, thus allowing coolant to drip out. It still works, but I must fill the coolant reserve tank on a weekly basis to compensate for the radiator leakage.
The radiator was great while it lasted. looked good and functioned great but 2 years and 5 days later i got a leak in the cooling fins.
This radiator only lasted 2 yrs untill started leaking at cooling fins, very disappointing!
Thank you quadratec for taking care of me !
Developed a leak on the drivers side after about 4k miles and 3 years. This isn't our first rodeo. Proper OAT coolant. Mounted with proper vibration isolators. Coolant passed acid test, so damage was not induced in any way could identify.
