Reviews for Quadratec RES-Q Teton Series Winch
The RES-Q winch checks all the boxes. The synthetic rope is high-quality, and the winch itself feels incredibly strong.
It includes an LED light, a rarity in other winches, which proves invaluable in low-light conditions. The installation was seamless. I appreciate the waterproof feature and love the wireless remote. Another huge bonus is the clutch is removable to prevent theft.
It's an excellent, robust winch that keeps working despite mud, water, and dirt. The fit on my winch plate is perfect, and the installation was a breeze. Well-constructed, and the synthetic line is impressive. The remote works flawlessly in both wired and wireless modes right out of the box.
I have had the chance to test out several brands of Winches and this one is by far my favorite! So many features packed into this one and meets or exceeds ones that are double the price!
Start with the capacity, 12k lbs! You wont have to worry about recovering Full Size trucks with this one! It has the strength and capacity to do so! The synthetic rope is also a huge plus compared to a steel rope! Don't have to worry about the sling shot effect!
The removeable handle on the clutch is a feature most winches don't even have. Someone could just turn the knob and loosen your line, but with this winch, you can just remove the handle and no one can touch it!
Wired and Wireless remote option! 1 remote that can do both! The remote has a built in LED light for night wheeling or using it to look under vehicle. If the battery dies, you can just plug it in to the winch!
Amber and White spool light so you can see the line when its dark at! Most winches don't have a light! Definitely an awesome feature if you have to do a recovery at night!
What more could you ask for in a Winch?!
Whiling giving the cable the initial stretch and holding the wireless remote, I realized this is a safe option to have. It reduces the chance of someone winding the cable in while you are at the hook (distal) end.
It is similar to a rule I have been following for decades during electrical cap and hard wire explosive operations. During demo, the Sr person downrange keeps the blazing machine to minimize the chance of anyone hooking up and initiating the shot. Even if doing it by RF, the Sr person keeps the transmitter downrange.
My only suggestion is to make the remote in a bright color plastic or a lanyard hook/loop. Most everyone has put something on a hood or bumper and then could not find it or just overlooked it.
It's clear that a lot of thought went into the design of this winch, and I am very impressed with its performance and features. 5 stars!!
As far as installation goes, it's very simple and straightforward. Outside of the instructions, I added a little blue Loctite to the bolts just for assurance. I also bought Quadratec's Extreme Duty Battery Terminals to make it easy to connect the winch to the battery. But otherwise the instructions include assembly instructions and a booklet that explains everything you need to know. Don't forget to pre-tension your rope after you install your winch!
The lighted spool strip is probably one of the most distinct features on this winch, which is both functional and definitely stands out on the Jeep when activated! The ability to choose between an amber and white LED speaks to the thoughtful design.
The remote is also very functional with its capability to operate as both wireless and wired. It also has a built in flashlight on the backside which is nice for working in the dark, even if just for digging through the Jeep. It comes with a USB cable to charge it.
I really like that the clutch handle can be removed to prevent others from tampering with the winch or stealing your rope. It's also nice that this winch is only offered with synthetic rope options, as rope has become the new standard for winches.
Overall, this is simply a good looking winch, with a lot of great features. Absolutely would recommend this to anyone looking for a winch for their Jeep!
This one is awesome.
Good winch for a great price.
I absolutely love this winch!
I've only had to use it a couple times, but it worked and got me out when it counted. Prevented a roll over on a sketchy trail and aided in getting home after snapping an axle.
Getting ready for off-road trip out west!
I’ve been using Warn for years and decided to give this one a try, what a well built winch I love it!! Don’t forget the cover.
