Reviews for Quadratec Steel Slim Flat Fender Flares for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
I bought these as the JK I purchased came with no fenders. I wanted a little something just to keep the water and mud out of the cabin when driving doorless, so these fit the bill. They are minimalist and don't add a lot of weight. My JK is street legal but not my daily driver. I mainly tow it to various trails for rock crawling. I didn't use the included lights as I already had a setup I had custom built.
So these require an M6 Nutsert tool. You can buy a simple manual one from an autoparts store for about $9.00, or you can buy the fancy tool (looks like a big rivet tool) for around $40 bucks. I used the $9.00 one and ended up going through two of them.
Installation for me wasn't too bad since the factory fenders were long gone. I did all this on my own but having a second pair of hands to hold the fender in place while you get in the first couple bolts is helpful. Don't tighten anything all the way until all the bolts are in place.
The fronts are super easy. All you need is the hex driver, a 10mm wrench, and a little patience. The rears are a different story. I was fortunate in that the previous owner had already drilled holes and put in Nutserts in almost all the right places, except all the nutserts were never properly installed, so I had to remove all the old ones and use the new ones.
I would recommend having some rust-proofing spray paint to spray the areas of the body where the fenders will cover. My J/K is 2008 and had a little bit of rust forming under where these fenders would go and on the old holes drilled for the Nutserts, but for anyone who is drilling in sheet metal, you should spray it with something. I masked things off, cleaned everything, and sprayed it with a couple coats. Remember, do this AFTER drilling any holes where the Nutserts will go.
Haven't had these more than a week at this point, so I have no idea how well they are going to hold up to the abuse I put on my J/K, but I think they will do the job.
Slim style
I had these on my 2011 jku. They are very sturdy and well made while also being thin. I would absolutely buy again. I'm patiently waiting for a JL/JT version!
Like the marker light, nice.
