Reviews for Quadratec QRC Side Armor with Step for 20-23 Jeep Gladiator JT
Four point attachments and it's a full length running board.
Great steps, installed today. Having never done this there was a little learning curve. I have a Rubicon so removing the rock rails gave me some idea what I was getting into. First one took me about 2 hours by myself, 2nd one took an hour or less. The one thing I wish was that the hardware was already mounted/welded on the steps like it was on the factory rock rails i took off. It is kind of a pain trying to run all the little bolts through the pinchweld holes. All those bolts were attached to factory part and just had nut on back side. If by yourself I suggest putting the step on a pump jack and bring up close to underneath of truck. I then lifted front/first/forward bracket and bolted in the body bolt. I then was able to put the 2 pinchweld bolts through. At this point you have something holding up the step, I then lifted rear of step and bolted rear body bolt. Then i put in 2 middle body bolts to hold the step in place. Don't tighten them all the way just a few turns to hold step up. I don't know about your specific Gladiator but I reused the factory body bolts that came with factory rock rails. You then can put in the rest of pinch weld bolts and attach the 2 brackets. Then just tighten everything down. One other thing I wish these steps came with some kind of strip of plastic the covered the pinch weld. My factory sliders covered them and it looked much sleeker. They should make some plastic covers that just go on outside and you could slide bolts through.
Received today and just finished installing.
Pros: Cheap; Fast Shipping; Very well packed, the package (box) came half open and badly ripped but actual products had zero damage. Only styrofoams were smashed/broken. Every edges and parts that were sticking out were covered with rubbers, clothes, or vinyl wrapped heavily.
Cons: Nothing like the stock fit. I also have a JL with the Rugged Ridge side steps later upgraded to the Metalcloak slider/flip steps. Both fitted perfectly to my OCD standards so I know it’s not the aftermarket parts issues. For both sides, front is higher by about 0.5 cm or 3/8th of an inch. So the entire steps are sliding down towards the rear and gaps are increasing. No, you cannot adjust them because the 3rd bracket (welded-on, counting from the front) is slightly longer compare to the 1st bracket. Both sides are exactly the same. Rear sides also sticks out more than the front when viewing from the straight top (you can see first two rows of holes in the step for the front but first three rows rows for the rear). Basically, they are sliding down and expanding out from the front to the rear. Wanted to love them but I cannot hate them enough.
I wish I could return them and exchange for some other brand. But remember the ripped boxes? I am stuck with them. I will be taking them off and put the stock rubicon sliders back on for now. $500 wasted. Never buying the Quadratec brand anymore ever again. No, I do not recommend this product. If the fitment matters to you; trust me on this one. Spend a little extra and get a different brand!
