Reviews for MasterTop Ultimate Summer Soft Top Combo for 18-23 Jeep Wrangler JL 2-Door
After basking in the sun for 2 hours, it took me (female, 59 yr, 5’7”) less than 45 minutes to put it on. The tonneau cover was tight, but some pulling using body weight was good enough to get it stretched enough to get into the grooves.
Fit is great, some confusion with images as they do not show the different ones very well. If you have a soft top already, it has the sides that come around to the door and closes in the cab almost completely going over the plastic door surrounds and the rear tailgate uses the factory bar at the arear door. If you get the hard top one, it has its own version of the tailgate bar that works decent. the bottom cover is a little shorter and will not stretch over or go under the factory door surrounds. The rear piece behind the driver and passenger is the one that goes on the inside only using straps and lets more air flow occur. besides that it is great.
The 30z top is very high quality! PITA to install.
I recommend installing sides of Wind stopper first.
Wait for warm day to install or your hands will not be happy.
Out of the box, wind stopper had a rip. Called up mastertop and they sent me a whole new set. Pretty good customer service. In all, fits better than any of bestops stuff. I agree with the straps of the previous poster. Honestly though, I leave them loose cuz I drive like I’m in a 90’s rap video though, so there’s that. Works as it should, and kudos to mastertop customer service. Very happy.
The build quality and materials are excellent. The tonneau cover portion fits well and will protect the contents. I leave the seat in but just fold it down. My biggest issue is that vertical wind stopper does prevent the seat from reclining. If you have the "big boy bracket" then don't bother. I am 5' 10" tall but have long legs and a larger mid section. I need to drive with the seat slid back all the way (I do not have the "big boy brackets installed as they raise the seat and cause me to bump my head on the sound/roll bar) and slightly reclined. For me, the seat can no longer recline enough. My shorter wife also complains that she cannot recline enough as a passenger. Some of this is the Jeep decision to build the JL for drivers under 5'5" with 25" inseams. I wish this had an extra inch of fabric on each side to help this fit better. I would give this an extra star if it had the extra material to allow the seat more room and another star if they included quick buckles on the straps so that it would be easier to put on and off.
Straps which secure the Wind Stop to the overhead member housing interior light and speakers are too short. They will reach around but only just meet the buckle. I measure straps on Wind Stop and it was 26 inches. Need another 4 or 5 inches of webbing material to make it workable.
