Reviews for Alpine i407-WRA-JK 7in In-Dash Digital Receiver for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Really good kit, straight forward install and it does work great with all my steering wheel controls. Apple car play is great to have, and it's nice to have a code reader and tire pressures quickly accessible as well. The ability to use SiriusXM was critical for me and while you have to buy the tuner ($40 - $60), this kit does come with an antenna adapter to retain the factory satellite antenna and the sat radio appears as thought it's built in from a funcitonal point of view.
Notes:
-The USB cord Alpine supplied to flash the Maestro Module (included) was defective, but thankfully it's a common cord and I had a spare that worked.
-DO NOT BUY THE SATELLITE ANTENNA ADAPTER THAT IS A RECOMMENDED ADD ON!!! The kit comes with a good one, and Quadratec will only accept a return on this un-needed adapter if you pay for shipping to return the item.
Apple Play and the Alpine reputation.
Decided to finally upgrade the system in my 2012 JKU rubicon that I’ve owned since new. Had the factory infinity premium sound and uconnect.
Installed this Alpine i407-WRA-JK head unit and the Alpine HCE-RCAM-WRA Rear Camera System, along with 2 sets of Alpine SPV-65X-WRA Component 2 Way Speakers (one set for soundbar and one for dash) in my 2012 JKU with and the Quadratec 8" factory sub replacement speaker. I also stuffed all the speaker enclosures with polyfill.
Did the head unit first, sounded much better with the stock speakers than with stock unit. Then I did the soundbar speakers and sub... oh MAN! SO much better. Finally I did the dash woofers and tweeters. I am really, REALLY happy with the sound, and now I have CarPlay and backup camera. Under $2,000 all in and my Jeep feels brand new.
The system works really well and I don't see a need to replace the factory premium amp given how great it sounds. Install wasn’t bad. Did everything in an afternoon. Wired CarPlay works great. As I read in one other review, the screen appears washed out when displaying certain CarPlay images, which is a little annoying considering the cost. But given the ease of install, performance and sound, I am absolutely thrilled. Completely transformed my Jeep’s interior.
I have a 2017 JKU and this stereo was a great addition. The installation instructions were very good except for one small issue. If you want to reuse the center console USB, the instructions do not cover this. I had read that I needed the USB adapter cable, which I purchased, but the instructions did not cover the installation. I had expected to find the console USB connection by the old stereo but it is instead connected to the connect unit. Worked great.
Easy install
Quality addition to our 2013 JKU. Couple points to make regarding install- even though you're buying a Jeep specific item, you still need to go through the process of establishing an account and flashing the "maestro." The screen would not even power up until that was done. Paired this with an Alpine HCE-RCAM-WRA rear-view camera. The instructions for the camera install were not clear to me on one point- beyond hooking up the yellow RCA cable you have to ground the black wire and find a 12V source for the red. I found a 12V source coming out of the otherwise unused "rear camera" harness that was part of the head unit's main harness. Hope this helps someone! Cheers
Easy installation and will connect to everything in my Jeep Wrangler.
i put this in my 2017 JKU.
the install was simple. the long wait for it to come back into stock was well worth it. it sounds amazing , my literal only gripe is the satellite channel favorites. you can only store 6. there is no way to see what is playing on the other channels like on my stock radio. i do love it though and mixed with the underseat alpine sub. and upgraded mopar speakers, it's a great combo
Installed with neighbor in my 2016 JKU.
Only issue I had was the settings weren’t accessible even when it was in Park and Parking brake was on. I added the bypass and it works fine and I can access settings when I want (wasn’t recommended by some but I prefer it).
Features are very easy to use and it sounds great with the Alpine plug and play speakers I added.
I like it!
Awesome stereo. I had never hooked up a stereo, yet I was able to install it in my 2010 Jeep Wrangler Sport and even added SiriusXM to it. Easy to operate and has excellent sound. I see now why you pay more for Alpine...it's worth it.
