Reviews for Flowmaster 817942 2.5" American Thunder Axle Back System for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
I've lived with it for almost 6000 miles so far. The video is very accurate. Where I drive the majority is idle to 3000rpm and I'm real happy but 4000 up it is pretty loud even with the hardtop. Not been an issue yet. Fit and finish are perfect. I did this and a cold air kit and have a better throttle response and average about 1.5 mpg better for combined driving city/hwy/trail. Real happy and the price is right.
I believe this is absolutely the best bang for your buck you can get for your Jeep Wrangler. For me it went on real super easy nothing hitting and it takes away that big ugly Muffler in back.
I can also feel the power that it has,and before this axle back I was averaging maybe at the best 19 miles per gallon. Now I am averaging 21 miles per gallon and I could never hit that before.
The sound is good makes the Pentastar engine sound like it should and not too loud and no droning in back.
If I got another Jeep I would definitely buy this system again
Great
This is a great option to add an aggressive sound to your Jeep. Install was not bad at all. Only issue is that the old muffler was pretty rusted on (live in New England). New pipe fit nicely over. I just flared the edges if it out a little just to make the install easier. It has a nice tone to it and isn't raspy and it is not super loud. you only really hear it when you are accelerating. It is surprisingly quiet on the highway and doesn't drone. I would highly recommend this if you want a more aggressive tone but don't want to spend a lot.
I'll let you know….
Good sounding exhaust, Medium in tone. Easy install. Can be done in under an hour or two with no prior mechanical background.
Sounds great but exhaust tip is so close towards the edge, the muffler will occasionally cause rattling as it hits on the rear frame of the Jeep. I've contacted Flowmaster customer support about this (even sent them a video) and they're so slow to respond, I ended up taking off the system completely. Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this, but seems to be consistent for me.
