A well designed hoist, with one small exception mentioned below. I did a ceiling installation on a 10.5 foot ceiling. Installation is very easy for two people on a rented scaffold. Other notes:

No concern with it becoming detached from the ceiling. With the currently furnished hardware, properly installed, there is a huge safety margin on screw pull out force. (You can verify with calculators you can find on the Web.)

The instructions, figure C on page 4, show the pulley mounted square with the 2x6. Rotate it slightly instead, so the cable coming from the hoist is aligned with the groove in the pulley instead of entering it at an angle.

Pre-drill the pilot holes in the 2x6s before fastening them to the ceiling. Knowing your joist spacing (mine is 16") everything will line up without having to do extra measurements upside down on the ceiling. Silicone oil on the screws makes driving them fairly easy. You don't need an impact driver; a normal portable drill works fine.

On my 2018 JL Unlimited the rear hook that goes in the gap between the rear window and the top touches the glass. Glass breakage is a concern, so it needs to be reshaped. One would have thought that the design was tested on a real JL. ???

The cables might birds nest if you operate the hoist with no tension on them. However, it is safe to just let them dangle (before they are threaded through the thimbles to attach to the frame) if the spools don't rotate.

Bottom line - go for it. It is a huge time and labor saver.

I really wanted this to work but I could not get the second motor to upgrade its firmware. Kudos to Quadratic, they took it right back and issued a refund with no hassle.
