Reviews for Kenwood KDC-BT778HD CD Stereo Receiver
It's Blue tooth connectivity and Apple Play.
Stereo: plenty of power and sounds great with my new Kicker 5 1/4" speakers (i put them in the dash and the roll bar pods).
Install Kit: Perfect fit and easy to install. The slot at the bottom of the kit is too small for phones in a case, so kind of useless. I am considering going for the double-din conversion kit later so I can have a larger slot. Storage in a TJ is lacking.
This is a good product except for one thing. It immediately swallowed the first disc I put in and it won't let it go.
Primary review point: installation. the converter kit ( 96086-0702) is great. I had a Kenwood model, Kenwood's documentation is abysmal for the things the kit refers to "manufacturer's instructions." The enclosed 2 page description is scant at best, and while I appreciate "Bob" furnishing his phone # (I didn't call it), the coverage is woeful. Security bolt on the back barely addressed. Spent a while on YouTube and found "How to: 2004 Jeep Wrangler TJ Stereo install" - by "Dave in Real Life" - OUTSTANDING. Short (<15min) and covers multiple important "gotcha's" -- highly recommend. Unit itself seems fine, sound quality great with factory speakers. Reception (using same antenna as I had with factory radio) may be a little weaker, I will compare this further. LOTS and LOTS of menu-deep functions on this with small buttons ... should have a warning on it "do not operate while driving!!" if you're by yourself. Overall, seems a good product, but beware install and multi-layer menus with wicked small buttons hard to see if driving.
The stereo itself is fine but the face plate to mount it to the dashboard does not fit the vehicle I ordered it for at all.
