Reviews for Rival 4x4 Aluminum Front Winch Bumper for 07-24 Jeep Wrangler JK, JL & Gladiator JT
In the end project bumper swap turned out well. I used a Warn Zion 10 S on my 2023 High-Tide. As most comment the instructions are lacking. They are different but once you get the hang of them, it works. There are also a couple of YouTube videos for the install. If you are installing sensors you are going to spend a lot longer on this project. In my case I did not. Follow the instructions and don’t tighten until you have everything lined up with or without shims required. In my case, I tend to be a perfectionist so I had to bumper on and off three or four times to make sure everything was centered and even. The bumper is light so it’s easy for one person to do this. The weight of the bumper and winch subtracted a half inch on the OEM suspension. My only negative for Rival is the quality control on the nuts welded into place. The lower front tow hook nuts on both sides were not welded straight so you could not screw the bolts all the way I had to shim it out with some of the extra hardware a quarter inch or more to allow the bolt to tighten down without hitting the bumper. This is all under the bumper skin when finished so if you make it work, you’re not going to see it and it is secure. Also, I ordered front and rear bumpers, and it took the front bumper a week longer to arrive. There is no tracking info on the order so just be patient it will get there. Thank you quadratec for answering all my questions before purchase.
Installation guide was obviously originally written in Russian. Although these guys are poor communicators in terms of instructions, wow... This front bumper inspired me to buy the rear bumper. All hail mother Russia...
Absolutely love this bumper, it is sleek and rugged, and subtle. We've got the full length with our winch mounted, this thing is solid and pretty lightweight as well.
First - This thing looks tough. It's certainly solid and well constructed. 5 Stars for looks/performance. The fitment however is lacking, as are the instructions (think 2 stars). For my 2020 Rubicon the spacing was off by a substantial amount for the winch plate. I had a really really hard time aligning the bolts mounting to the frame rails. This says it'll fit the JL and JK, but I wonder if the spacing on the frame rails is slightly different.
I'm pretty sure there were multiple people working on the instructions. All in separate rooms and different vehicles lol.
Quick tip for install - mount the winch plate support brackets to the frame rails BEFORE you install the winch plate. The bolts are just too short otherwise and you'll fight this thing for hours. It'll try to cross thread on one side and drive you absolutely insane.
Also, pay particular attention to the skid plate mounting brackets and which holes they are installed in. It's incredibly tough to reposition them after mounting everything else.
Installation time with a winch took me 3.5 hours. What seemed like an easy task was far from that, but it can be accomplished with a simple tool set, torque wrench, and plenty of patience.
Packaging, product, and design are all great. Great bumper.
strong and ligth perfect
It's stout, sturdy, and appears well made. Installation was not without issues. Two of the pre- welded nut braces had the wrong size nuts. They were at least two sizes two big for the bolts. Had to get bigger bolts. Thankfully the predrilled holes were big enough. Several of the screws weren't long enough. Especially the ones for the tow hooks. Another trip to the hardware store. One of the screws and welded nut braces for the skid plate had bad threads. Ended up abandoning it and using regular nut and heavy oversized washer. Be prepared...the instructions are lacking. It's right up there with an Ikea dresser.
I bought srear one so we ll see how it goes.r
