Reviews for QuadraTop Adventure Top for 97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ
top easy to put on, waterproof, looks good. there is another long review about the top not coming off, etc but it makes no sense. if you every really wanted to completely remove it from the jeep if would take 10 minutes. remove the sides and rear windows, then unscrew from the rollbar. not very hard nor time consuming.
I have a 1999 Jeep Wrangler that the hardware for the original top gave out. I bought this and waited to write a review. Love it the sun roof is awesome and very easy to install (take your time and don't rush). No leaks quieter than the original top and being able to throw the top open in seconds and within a minute put it back down for the rain, great. Recommend to anyone
Ease of removal!
No frame, bikini top option, flip sunroof
Good reviews
Honestly, not a great top but not a bad value for the money either. The pull tabs for the sunrider option broke on install and the header channel is close, but not an exact fit which lead to air to blow through. Really annoying when it rains as it kinda spits at you. Fixed by installing a footman look in the top and used the existing with a nylon strap to keep it under tension. If you are someone that wants to use the sunrider option often, I wouldn't recommend this top but I generally like door and surrounds off but the top on so it works for me with the modificaitons.
Easy to install, and easy to use. I gave it 3 stars due to the fact that wind and rain find their way between the windshield frame and the top. I have adjusted the top and have not been able to correct this issue. Again, great too at a great price, but the wind and rain making their way into the cab while driving lowers my overall score.
Only 3 out of 5 stars are because of my personal preferences. I am not taken away from the quality of the Top. :0
Here's my story.
It took me about a month to decide on a new soft top for my 2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ with the 4.0L. This is my 3rd Jeep Wrangler and with having only 61,000 miles, she has a lot of life left.
I would have never purchased this item if it clearly STATED the top is not meant to come off!! It was NOT in the description or stated by customer service in my first emails. The customer service rep whom I talked to read the description and also thought who in their right mind would want to disable the freedom of the Ragtop, once you experienced it and love it?
I had this professionally installed and when I went to pick it up I was told that this was the first time they had seen the bowless QuadraTop Adventure Top. The look is very nice! It is a sharp-looking addition to a jeep. The quality is always good with any Quadratec items in my opinion.
Here I thought I was just cool. :) but in reality. I think many Jeepers may not want to lose that freedom of just dropping back the whole ragtop if it warms up while you're out.
It was very heartbreaking ( yeah I am a CHIC) to lose that option, life is short and I was just starting to rebuild at N.F.I ( great folks and Jeeps over there). I did not plan on finding out AFTER it was installed that I made a stupid decision.
We will see what all is involved to remove it and keep it off all summer. ( live in North )
Or I have to buy a new top and bows, send it to my shop, and have it swapped out and sent back ( another charge to have that done)
The return option was left like that for me.
I finally went to flip the top section back. The little piece of canvas I call a pull tab on this top is too short. The tabs are not visible so I had to get a small screwdriver to pry them up carefully. When we closed the top we tried so many ways to keep them out, they are way too short. Once you had closed one part, the pull tab was no longer visible.
The ride with it down was of course wonderful.
I've had this on my 06 TJ for over 6 months now, it hasn't been my favorite purchase. Normally I would have my hard top on for the winter but wanted to see how the soft top would hold up. It hasn't leaked much, just at the rear window some water does manage to get inside. It is a bit noisy compared to the Best Top that wore out. The Best Top was much easier to put up and down and you could take out the windows and roll them into a pouch. This top is not easy to put up or take out the windows and will not roll up so you have to leave them at home or put them in the back seat. The areas around the top of the doors collect water and when you open the doors you get a bit of a shower. Next top will be another Best Top.
Before I had this top I had a Pavement Ends top which is a budget top made by Bestop. It worked fine, but the windows were not tinted and the sunridder feature needed some upgrades to its design. This lead me to purchase the Adventure top from Quadra top. First issue was that the tabs that tie into the sail panels are at least 2Xs longer than the ones on the Pavement ends top. I thought I was going to bust the stiches pulling down on the to get them in. At one point I had almost my whole 230 lbs on the top. I guess this speaks well for the stitching. Second, the windshield header is made from plastic. I'm guessing it has a slight bow that allows rain to POUR in when I am driving down the road. I can actually feel wind blowing through. I cobbled a strap to go around the footman loop to help, but this is kind of a PITA. Maybe I can replace the seal, But it seems fine and it did not leak on my old top. Third the tabs that go into the door surrounds seem to long or the top is too wide. Sometimes the door will catch on the top (on both sides at the same time) and this will cause the door to bend out and leave a gap at the top. As it stands It has torn the weather strip on my driver door cause the top seems too wide. I'm quite disappointed. I thought about spending a little more money and getting the Bestop version. Now I wish I did.
