Reviews for TACTIK Stubby Front Bumper with Hoop for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Looks good
Delivered quickly. Great look. A few places the paint was flaking off already, but it wasn’t too noticeable. The install was very easy. I have a 2007 JK.
Looks good
Installation was easy, great bumper for the price. Looks Great!
Installation was easy, a great bumper for the price. My only recommendation is to install the fog lights screws into the back of the bumper before bolting.
Installation was easy and my winch and light bar bolted right on. It didn't take long at all. Figuring out where I wanted to route the wires took longer than mounting everything.
Has all the features I'm looking for in a less expensive package
It's a solid bumper and well built; probably 20 pounds heavier than the stock bumper. When it arrived, the cardboard box was damaged and half-disintegrated. Upon inspection, I found that one of the d-ring mounting plates was missing - probably fell out of one of the large holes in the box. At least the bumper was intact and the hardware bag and instructions present. Quadratec customer service was very responsive and sent me a new bumper and asked that I take out the part that I needed and have Fed Ex pick the box back up. Getting fed Ex to pick up the box seemed like a hassle, so I just drove the box down to a Fed Ex store and let them handle it.
The installation had a few hiccups - mostly related to taking the old bumper off. First, I stripped the plastic screws holding the frame guard on - so I had to drill them out. The next issue was just trying to access the bumper bolts on the inside of the frame. The area is incredibly tight, so if you are inclined towards impatience, you may want to take a short break.
Installing the bumper was a lot easier - there was an issue in that it wasn't clear where and in what order to put the flat washer and the split-ring washer. After going online and zooming in real close at the pdf instructions on the quadratec site, I was able to figure it out (split-ring is below the nut, flat washer below split-ring). One of the d-ring mounting plate holes was slightly smaller than the bolt, but a minute of round-filing made it big enough to work.
In spite of some of these minor issues, it was a fun little project that kept me occupied for a few hours and gave my Jeep a new look. I would definitely buy from quadratec again.
This bumper has many good things and some not so great. The install was so easy, the cost was reasonable, and the look is exactly what I wanted. I do recommend tightening the bolts from the back. My biggest issue was the powder coating. From experience it’s the most durable coating but tightening the bolts caused lots of chipping on the mounting brackets. I don’t know how it will stand the test of time and rust. There are some spots on the top of the bumper where the coating has an unusual swirl pattern that may be cause for chipping in the future as well. Under the coating you can tell it is painted which is nice. It’s all ready for a winch!
