Reviews for Go Rhino DSS4516T Dominator DSS Rock Sliders for 20-22 Jeep Gladiator JT
I had the same experience as everyone else. I bought these because it was the exact design I was looking for. I thought surely everyone else that left a review just wasn't good with tools. I am here to tell you that is not the case. I could assemble nearly an entire engine from the ground up in the time it took to install these sliders.
I started this disaster of an assembly in my shop by loosely assembling the brackets to the sliders. I quickly found out that the nuts welded to the brackets had enough powder coating inside that a bolt wouldn't start in the threads. So, after tapping every single nut for the brackets, I was ready to start assembling. I used the pictures to install the middle bracket because apparently stamping an L or R into the bracket along with the numbers wasn't an option for GoRhino. Of course, the pictures led me in the wrong direction. After 3 hours of installing the passenger side, I was ready to drive to wherever GoRhino is located and throw the steps in their parking lot. After the pain and agony of assembling the passenger side, I installed the driver side in about 20 minutes. Needless to say, I learned a lot in those 3 hours on the passenger side. I really don't think this company installed the sliders on a vehicle because I hope a company wouldn't mass produce such a junky install method.
The ONLY reason I am giving these steps two stars is that they look perfect on the Gladiator after installing. The install, directions, and fasteners make a horrible overall experience. This was my first GoRhino experience, and sure as hell will be the last. I even removed the logos from the steps because I was that disappointed in the installation.
I'm with Ronald here. I spent an hour on my back Saturday morning balancing a side step on my knee, left hands finger tips propping up the bracket, Right hand trying to turn the bolt, middle hand holding up the other end. And despite the fact that I have 3 hands, Its still sitting on my garage floor. Now I have to drive around for a week with the brackets exposed, leading all the neighbors thinking that I am incompetent with tools all the while knowing its just a stupid design to save them a buck. My Wife already sees me as a failure, I don't need this to boot.
I'll try again next week but I'm taking the advice that others have posted and loosely assembling everything together and THEN mounting on the Gladiator.
They look sharp when propped up on jack stands next to the Jeep though so there is that... which is nice.
Absolutely not rock sliders in any way!!!! Aside from being a pain to install, I put these on my 2020 Gladiator first time out off roading and they got destroyed on the first rock they touched. Junk!!!
After reading all the reviews I will admit that I was skeptical of buying these sidesteps. I ended up buying them anyhow, because I liked the look so much. Big mistake!!!!
Whoever designed these needs to get a cramp in his big toe for 4 hours. What a freaking pain in the butt to install. If you are reading this review, I would strongly recommend that you keep looking and save yourself some aggravation Let's Go Rhino!
horrible.
install is a pain.
the paint is coming off.
Let's be honest, the parts are still sitting on the garage floor. Why? Because the install is a major pain. Whoever thought the bracket design was a good idea was grossly misinformed. I don't really know what else to say except that I am sorry I purchased these steps. Oh yeah, and missing bolts too!
