Reviews for Smittybilt 77806 XRC GEN1 Front Bumper with Winch Plate for 18-23 Jeep Wrangler JL & Gladiator JT
It's an great all in one bumper!
Easy to install, the bumper was in great condition when it arrived.
I like the bumper. I had my mechanic cut out for my class III front frame mounted hitch and it looks great to me anyway. I am happy with this bumper
I recently purchased the XRC Gen 1 Front bumper for my Jeep Gladiator. While the bumper seems to be built well and I am pleased with it, the installation instructions were horrible. Smittybilt needs to update the instructions. The instructions were not clear on how to use the "stick" bolt. But the most crucial was the step before actually "stabing" the bumper onto the frame. It did not instruct you to take the two bolts welded together on a plate and slip it into the bolt holes on the bumper, and keep it in place with the plastic washers so you can stab it onto the frame. There was no mention of that in the instructions. It simply said "now install the bumper using a partner onto the vehicle." Good thing I'm kind of smart and figured it out. Maybe the main bolts should be fabricated onto the xrc bumper, like the OEM bumper instead of having to keep them in place with plastic clear washers. Because if you don't get the bolts perfectly into the frame holes then you have to put the bumper down and re-position the bolts. And with the bumper weighing 100lbs its not that easy aligning the bolts to the holes on the frame, especially if you don't have someone to help lift it. And, instructions said to remove the OEM "skid plate," the metal strip bolted to the frame behind the plastic OEM skid plate, and it says to "keep OE parts for later installation." The instructions never had a numbered step to re-install that metal strip. And, with the new bumper in place there didn't seem to be any room for it to be re-installed anyway.
