Reviews for Rugged Ridge 13550.23 Armis Hard Rolling Bed Cover for 20-22 Jeep Gladiator JT
Hybrid of hard and soft and easy to use. Doesn't obstruct view
Low profile, hard shell, security ease of use.
I saw a review that said it will not install without Trail Rail system. My Gladiator does not have the Trail Rail system & it worked perfectly. The instructions are not great, but there are very few steps & easy to figure out. I have molle panels on the inside of my bed rails, & I anticipated issues...but they were few. I had to cut off about 1/2 an inch of brackets on both sides...no big deal. Fits perfectly, is quiet, and looks great. Also, had to take it out to load a dirt bike...took 30 seconds. I saw a guy driving with a tri-fold cover, with a table in the bed. No way he could see out the rear view mirror with that cover. The hard rolling cover is almost totally out of view, even when rolled open.
I had some concerns after reading some of the reviews but all in all installed pretty easily. I'm older and move a bit slow so it took me about 1.5 hours to install. The directions that come with it are better than the links on this page. I do not have trail rails and still pretty simple. The goods came in without any real damage (one rail had a little but of messed up insulation but was easy to put back in place), worst thing was having to get an M6 tap for the hole by the tailgate having never used one before I was nervous but take it slow and it will be fine. Quality seems good and look excellent.
Delivery was quick and cover was packed well. As others have said, the instructions were a little vague at times but not too difficult to figure out. Overall love the look and the sturdiness. One word of caution: if you have a spray in bed liner, you may have to drill the hole out a little in order for the bolts to fit on the rear brackets.
Great design & high quality bed cover. Does a great job keeping items safe and dry. Stood up to 2 weeks through Colorado mountains including Stoney Pass!
Installed on a '21 Diesel Rubicon that came with trail rail system and the soft rolling cover. I wanted the upgrade for more security, but liked the rolling footprint.
Some of the weather stripping along one of the side rails was damaged in shipping and was stuck all over the other components inside the box. I was able to peel enough of it up to give coverage to the underside of the rail, but can't help but think there's a better way to ship the stripping for those rails.
Install was pretty straightforward despite some hard-to-follow direction art in a couple of places, but as you get into the install, it makes enough sense. It is one of the few Jeep install projects I was able to complete within the time I had scheduled for it, and that says something!
Like most Jeep things, it takes a little adjusting and "convincing" to get in place, but overall it has installed and seems well-made. I really like the look and functionality.
Very high quality product. Does not flap while driving 75+. Be advised, this does require the trail rail system. Videos here and description say it does not but it will only install if you have that. I feel like it could be a bit wider to make it even more watertight but I don’t get any rain in the bed while driving. I have noticed some going thru a car wash.
Delivery was quick and the cover was well packed. I had a little damage to the bottom weatherstrip installed on the side rails. Instructions could be a little better especially about the front corner seal blocks and mounting the cover to the rails. I called Rugged Ridge support, but they were little help. Once I got the cover installed, I had to go back and make some adjustments to the side rails to get a proper fit, but after than I had no fit issues as others had noted. If you have the spray bed liner you will have to clean out the holes in the front of the bed before trying to install the fasteners. I only have 2 complaints with the cover;
a) the seal at the tail gate sucks, but it looks like an easy mod to improve this.
b)There should be an intermediate support for the side rails or the side rails should be a littler stronger. If you do not loosen the velcro sides before trying to role the cover, it lifts (bows) the side rails.
For $1000, it shouldn't require any modifications. We will see how it holds up.
Directions incorrect. Not sure how anyone rating this could do install. Contacted rugged ridge and they admitted install info is wrong, and they had no answer as to how the cover should be installed. Instructions for installing the bulkhead seal and some kind of foam block are in direct conflict with each other. Pictures for the 2021 gladiator foam block install do not even show the gladiator bed. Also the 1/4 x 20 jack nuts shipped with the mounting brackets to mount to the front of the bulkhead are very weak. Twisted one off trying to tighten down with a screwdriver. I ordered rivitnuts from Amazon and will install with real rivet nuts. Quadratech also had no answers. Also not this cover is getting bad reviews on many other sites, just not Quadratec for some reason.
