Reviews for Mopar 82215956 Trail Rail Cargo Management System for 20-22 Jeep Gladiator JT
This system is made well and was pretty easy to install. I didn't have any issues with the instructions. However, the spray in bed liner created an unexpected issue with the screws. It is easy enough to clear the threads on the screw holes of the liner material. But the screw holes have two stages to them I think...there is another hole inside the hole. And I think the liner gummed up those as well. So about half way in I hit some resistance that seemed impossible to push past. I thought the screws were just too long. And the system does not work if the screws are not all the way in. I did manage finally to get one screw and then several others to break through, but managed to strip three screws trying. Arggghh! Anyway, I advise you VERY CAREFULLY and methodically screw a screw into each of the holes all the way in before you even get the rails into the game. I've got to get those three screws out and find replacements.
After years of Tacomas with their rails, i won't own another vehicle without something similar. These should take 30 minutes to install for most people... highly recommend a proper rivnut installer to speed things along and prevent spinning the hexagonal rivnut.
The instructions for this are wrong in steps 3-6 and the FWD arrow is actually pointing to the rear. The rivnut gets installed next to the tailgate and the little tail of the rails goes toward the rear as well.
If you are getting your bed lined, have them plug all the threaded holes along the sides and front and make sure they clean out the hexagonal hole toward the rear or the rivnut won't fit. I tried cutting the bedliner out and damaged the paint inside the hole so I drilled it out for a larger rivnut. Still works but would have been a lot less headache to have them clear out that hole.
Very good product. A bit overpriced for what it is but it seems sturdy
Durable product.
As a MOPAR part the bed liner shouldve been taken into consideration. However I had an issue with 1 bolt, almost stripped it and decided to not risk it and carefully ran an appropriate sized tap through each hole first and it worked like a dream afterwards. Came without bolts for the two pressure nuts but I just went out and bought a couple of those.
Believe the reviewers here saying the HW kit comes short of two bolts, it should be 14, not the 12 they provide, and Mopar instructions don't give you the bolt spec. I chose to put only two in the front rail while I get the additional two required.
Also sage advice to pre-screw the bolts before installing the rails if you have a bedliner. This cleans out the threads of bedliner material and makes the actual install much easier. I used a deadhead rubber mallet for the hex cap nuts and that worked great, no bedliner material cleanup required.
Overall this accessory is totally overpriced for what it is, but I'm looking forward to the adjustable tie down anchors and whatever else I may use it for down the road. The overall build quality is good.
This kit comes without two screws. If you look at the quadratec specs, it states it comes with 12 screws, but the instructions state it should come with 14. Once installed, I am 2 screws short. Install was easy once I used a drill to remove bedliner material from the screw holes. All in all happy, but I needed to order two more screws. For a premium mopar part with a price to match I expect more.
The rails seem fine, but the hardware came missing 2 of the bolts, and the installation is really tough with the supplied torx bolts which strip almost immediately. It seems the idea is that the bolt is tapping a blank nut or a nut with completely clogged threads. Which is more than a torx head bolt can handle. If I had to do again I would immediately buy the regular hex head bolts that Mopar sells for the trail rail system. You'll need 14.
