Reviews for MasterTop Ultimate Summer Combo in MasterTwill® Fabric for 97-06 Soft Top Equipped Jeep TJ Wrangler
Amazing top
I really like this combo except I personably would feel a little cramped, so I went with full frameless and love the versatility openness and coverage it provides
Very nice high quality top , I get a lot of compliments, it works with the seat folded down but I took it out for extra room , also bought a bestop cargo rack above the rear tonnue , only thing is they should tighten the gap from where the door surround fabric meets the roof , and no flip back feature , but great top I def reccomend
Very nice material, great fit, easy to install. Looks great, too. After I got my three piece combo top installed I tried to unzip the window. DISASTER! The zipper separated and the teeth won’t mesh. I’m so bummed. Brand new top, 300 bucks, and it’s a huge disappointment. Horrible quality zipper on the window. The zipper to attach the duster to the wind jammer is big and beefy, with huge plastic teeth, but the window zipper is like something you’d find on a cheap vinyl raincoat, with coiled teeth. Man, I’m really bummed out. I was really looking forward to having that window zip open & closed, as I have a rear rack and it would have been so cool to be able to reach things on it through the window. Friggin zipper!!! I tried to re-mesh the teeth for 15 minutes before heartbreak wore me out and I just gave up. Should have bought a different brand.
Fits good and well made. Had the Bimini top & Tonneau cover on my jeep for over a month now and I works just I had expected it too. Would have given it 5 stars if I knew I also had to buy a windshield frame to mount the top so I could have ordered them both at the same time. Other reviewer mentioned trouble folding the top when not in use. I just roll mine up (keeping the windshield rubber straight) place it on the tonneau cover, then use bungie cords to attach to the roll bar. will submit a pic next time I remove the top. YES the water pools up just like other reviewers mentioned. I just live with it. After all It is a Jeep with doors removed and limited coverage from the elements.
This might be my favorite top of all time; it is definitely my first twill top. It feels very high quality, much more so than Black Diamond. I strongly suggest buying (or fabricating) a Top Prop device in order to give the top a bit of pitch, which will help water roll right off and tighten things up nicely while driving at highway speeds (much reduced road noise).
I bought one right here from Quadratec; it is called the "Skid Row Offroad Top Prop for 87-06 Jeep Wrangler." If you search for that, it should pop right up. If all the pics upload, you'll see what it looks like from the outside. I also recommend fabricating a solid top or cabinet to bolt in under the tonneau cover. Rain water will definitely weigh it down without any support. A simply plywood piece underneath will fix it up nicely. You can even add a small lift in the middle to give it some pitch if you want.
The top is very easy to put on. In fact, I lost the directions right away (that's my luck, by the way) but was still able to figure it out easily. When I did find the directions, there were only a couple of small adjustments I had to make.
The top stays in place nicely while driving down the road, and the wrap-around windjammer helps keep the wind out. The roll-down back window is a plus. If you are over 6'0" tall, then you'll have to get used to sitting a smidge bit closer to the steering wheel than you are used to (when the wind jammer is in). I am exactly six feet and find this only a minor annoyance.
I do wish the top were designed so that the bimini covers the gap at the top of the doors where the windjammer wraps around, but even that is a minor inconvenience. I do recommend a full jeep cover if your jeep is kept outdoors because this top will not be as weatherproof as a full soft top. Quadratec makes several fine options. If you keep your jeep under an awning or in a garage, the cover isn't necessary.
Overall, I love this top. It is stylish and very pretty. I'm not sure the pictures do it true justice. My 04 rebuild feels really complete with this top on. Summer, here I come!
High-quality fabric, relatively easy to install, and that back window is pretty cool. Reality was actually pretty close to expectation!
Not for me, but it could be for someone else.
It is a high quality piece, however there are some flaws. First, the speakers end up being on the outside of the wind jammer. Also, there is a gap between the wind jammer and the roof which obviously lets air and noise in. The worst flaw is that water puddles on the tonneau cover as well as the roof. This is a cool looking top and could be useful, and you can do many different combinations for different looks, but in my case it was not ideal. Recommended for someone who stores their jeep inside, or lives somewhere it doesn't rain often.
Nice material but , I do not the gap between the top and curtain
This top was an absolute nightmare to install and took nearly 3 hours. Bimini is great as is the rear cover but the windshield zipper completely came off the track the first time i used it. Plastic zipper is flimsy. Appears the tuck seams are rolled and compromise the ability for seamless zipper motion. Really disappointed as this top was recommended by a few folks in our jeep club. DEFINITELY sticking with Quadratec brand covers...they've been tried and true! 22 year old jeep and my current Quadra brand top was still in amazing shape after install nearly 9 years ago. Bummer... wanted a different look for summer after having storm damage and a tree punctured to my Quadra top. Just ordered new one! Sticking with YOUR company quality from here on out!!
