Reviews for Quadratec Softbond 5-Layer Cab Cover For 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK 2-Door
Nice affordable catastrophe prevention!
This is a great option for people that haven’t installed any aftermarket accessories to their jeep. If you’ve just removed your hardtop and doors, this is perfect.
Doesn’t fit properly if you’ve:
Installed a Quadratec Tonno (Gotta take it off)
Have a Softop installed (doesn’t fit around door surrounds?! Really??)
Have a light bar or a-pillar lights.
Have a snorkel.
Have aftermarket rear bumper (You might get lucky with the attachment to the rear gate)
All-in-all, it seems to be great quality. Just not really well thought out for people who’ve put any accessories on their rig.
This thing fits TIGHT. I followed install directions and it fits a 2015 JK with no room to spare. I had to pull over during a tornado warning; I had left for the day with no top, sides, or doors. I quickly proceeded to don this waterproof top in about 90 seconds. Thankfully, I had used it a few time previously. Within minutes, we had winds >20 mph and about 1.5" rain over the course of 30-45 minutes. Needless to say, the top stayed on.
A few notes from this experience. 1.) The top does NOT actually cover all areas. There is ~3/4" gap along both door hinges that are left exposed. 2.) water WILL pool in the area above the driver/passenger seats and WILL leak slightly into the cabin onto the seats. This is overcome by keeping a piece of PVC behind your seat, and then putting it across the center of your vehicle to form an artificial ridge. This is the only reason I gave this top 4 stars instead of 5 stars.
Fit's a little snug when you have the Best Top in place with the window panels out. With the steel tube doors on there is a gab at the A post because of the mirror.
Also, the driver side strap by the B pillar pulled loose from the cover just loosening the start for installation. I will say that it does keep it dry inside which is the end goal. I'll take the cover to a local boat cover shop to have all of the straps secured with some extra sewing.
Drizzled overnight, Interior stayed DRY. Easy install. Works. Would recomend.
This cab cover does fit without removing the door surrounds or all of the soft top contrary to the product description. The tabs on the back and on the side are a real advantage over other covers I have had. They do secure the cover nicely to the body. HOWEVER, do not expect it to fit over lighting accessories. I love my J5 light bar too much to give it up for this cover. You would thing that such things would be taken into account. My bad for hoping for the best.
Excellent cover to keep bugs and debris out, less good for water over time.
Worked really good through half a season. Then I had to spray a can of water repellent on for the second half of the season. 2nd year now and it's leaking again. I either get a new one of this same brand or upgrade, but I'm not sure it's worth using more than the one season. Adding something under it to prevent sag is important.
Does not work if you take all the windows and doors out and leave the top on for shade or bikini style. Guess I should have known that??
I used this cover for the first time last night. The fit was snug and the install was easy. We had quite a bit of rain and unfortunately the top leaked. There was a little water pooled on the driver's side but most of the water leaked through and the driver seat was drenched.
The cover is ok but one of my clips broke. I tried to email and call to get it replaced under warranty but no one returned my messages. The top is a little too tight for the top of my Jeep and does not fully fit. The straps are too short and the clips break easily.
