Reviews for Crown Automotive RT26057 Stainless Steel Locking Hood Catches for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
This was the very first thing that I changed when I got my Jeep. Should come from Jeep with these already installed. Bring your patience when installing them. It takes a little "finagling" to get them mounted right. But once they are, they're fantastic. I've had them on my '13 JKU since '12. (ordered them before the Jeep arrived) I've never had to adjust them or tighten them. No rust and the locks are easy-ish to open/close. Totally secure and no hood shake.
works like advertised. just be patient with the install as it is a tight fit. took me roughly 30 to complete
Get rid of flutter
Pretty easy install once I figured out how to reach the bottom latch bolt. They look great and give me a better since of security.
Big Shout-Out to Frank from Quadratec too.
When my set arrived, one latch was bent and wouldn't lock, Frank had a replacement to me in 2 days.
Hood latches Excellent product would definitely recommend them
Locking
I agree with the other reviews on these. Nice solid feel, no instructions, but you really don't need any, and after a little adjustment here and there they work better than stock. They definitely pull the hood down tight.
I gave it a 5 because once I got these babies installed and adjusted, they worked great. Otherwise, a solid 4. They are a bit tricky to install (see other comments), but be patient and check out the other pictures I provided and it should help. Have a swivel adapter for your socket wrench handy, and make sure you remove the grill for easier access. If you really want it to go easier, it'll be more work, but remove the headlight assemblies, but I think a little patience and knowing you'll be working in a tight space for the bottom piece, you'll be able to get this done in an hour or so. The other thing that kind of irked me was, no installation instructions. It would have helped with the tricky install it turns out to be. You have to have a little mechanical knowhow to get around that problem.
Look awesome and perform well. Install is just a little tricky, but not too complicated...I pulled my grill off to give me better access to the back side of the fender. Per the previous review, a socket with a thin head is definitely recommended.
They look great and installed in less than an hour. They will definitely eliminate the hood rattle and protect my Jeep under the hood. Make sure you have a ratchet with a thin head, I was lucky my son had a good snap-on ratchet, my cheaper ones were to big to fit for the lower bolt.
