Reviews for Crown Automotive RT23002 Manual Axle Disconnect Kit for 87-95 Jeep Wrangler YJ and 84-93 Cherokee XJ & Comanche MJ
Ain't got it yet, but it was cheap enough
This worked on my 1987 Jeep Wrangler. I didn’t know if I needed the longer cable length so I went ahead and got the longer one and it worked just fine I routed it over the left front fender down behind the headlight back behind the engine mount and then over to the differential.
I ordered this part, and when I went to assemble it, the housing had not been machined correctly, and the part would not work. I called customer service to let them know, and within minutes they emailed me a free return UPS address label to return the defective part, then the next day I received the replacement part. It was milled correctly, and installed without issue. Very good customer service.
Basically it does what it claims. Quite solid (actually the cable might be a bit too solid, it's very heavy and thick, and a bit long for a YJ, which makes routing it a bit of an issue.) But overall well made.
It fits and works. The major problem with these are water. It is not sealed at the cable inlet to the axle housing. I had oil dripping out where the cable adjustment is. It should be crimped to make it sealed. I do not drive a pavement princess! Great idea now improve it
Poor instructions, the cable operates backwards to how the instructions say. Out is 2x4 in is 4X4 which also means the 4x4 indicator light is backwards also
Not happy with it first time I used it the crimped end at axle broke the crimp was not right it looks like
