Reviews for Quadratec Mid Width Rear Bumper for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Seem that all my Quadratec orders come in packaging that looks like an angry elephant played with it. Had to paint a small scratch/dent. Be sure to read parts included as D rings are not included so don't let picture fool you. Besides those issues installed solo and I think it is a good looking bumper. Lights with the wiring harness very easy to install.
Seems pretty solid and looks great. Love the small profile and hope it will hold up just as well. It did have one D-Ring mount bent so my d-ring sits kind of weird. Overall it looks great and seems like it’s going to hold up, two mounting points and 4 bolts so let’s keep fingers crossed!
Bumper has two cutouts for lights. Each has four nuts welded to the back, well it's supposed to have four nuts welded to the back, one nut was just not there, no signs it broke off, just not there.
Otherwise the bumper is quite nice and I'm happy with it but the QC team clearly left early that day.
This is a good looking bumper for a decent price. It was easy to install and wiring for the lights was straightforward. The reverse lights are very bright and a dramatic improvement over stock.
Two reasons why I rated this so low....
1. Both D-ring mounts split lengthwise within the first year. I dont think these were made from a single piece of steel and look like they split from corrosion between the layers. Needless to say I question their integrity. Keep in mind I never used them once so they have seen no stress.
2. The bumper was also showing mild corrorion bubbling under the finish within the first year and now after two years it is significant. I do live in the rust belt so there is that, but the last few winters have not been harsh, I guess after the few snows we got I should have sprayed the inside of the bumper out better.
For the price it is a fair bumper. You get what you pay for.
The bumper feels solid enough and it mounted in less than half an hour.
There were areas with a lot of chipped coating that were filled in with a paint that doesn't match the surrounding powder coating. The powder coating itself looks good but feels very cheap and flakes easily. If you live in a warm dry climate with smooth roads this bumper is a great deal but I'm anticipating frequent rust removal and touch ups.
When the bumper first arrived I was surprised at how good it looked and that everything seemed to be in order. Upon closer inspection I saw a spot on the inside of the shackle mounts that is raw steel and already starting to rust. The packaging was decent but the box fell apart by the time it was delivered. No damage to the bumper when the box blew out on delivery. Overall, even before installing, I am seriously let down by the powder coat and will have to do some touch up work or send it out to get redone.
One side rail was misaligned so I could not slide the bumper into the bumper bracket. I had to bang the steel rail in to get it to slide in to the bracket.
This made it difficult to affix one of the bolts and locking washer into the bracket (still not exactly where it should be but I got it to where I am okay with it).
Mounting lights into the light bracket was difficult to say the least for a person with big hands due to the two mounting screw brackets being set at the back end closest to the inside of the bumper.
Those two issues made the install much longer than it needed to be for this “bolt-n-play bumper....
