Reviews for AVS 753156 Aeroskin LightShield Hood Protector for 18-22 Jeep Wrangler JL & 2022 Gladiator JT
I love the look of the deflector, especially the lights. I took my time to install it perfectly in about an hour. Do yourself a favor and purchase the DLR running light accessory, plug and play.
Nice result. Beefs up the look of the Gladiator and gives it a more rugged stance in the front. I cannot speak for the LED strip, I decided to use some discreet LED button lights by drilling small holes and using the backing nuts with the LED buttons to attach from the backside prior to installing on the hood. Looks great! If picture approved, it is the White Jeep Gladiator with the winch and bar LED lighting on top of rear rollbar.
I wanted a protector and this one was totally worth it. The lights are bright by them selves and I like the aesthetic.
Absolutely love the look this adds to my Jeep! Installs in 10 minutes, but I had to have a shop wire it for me.I just didnt feel comfortable messing with electric wires on a new Jeep.It took them 5 minutes!Hopefully this shield will help deflect stones from chipping my windshield.Well worth the money and shipping was very fast! You wont be sorry!!!Will continue making all of my Jeep accessory purchases from Quadratec!!!!!
This hood protector is awesome; very easy install in about an hour, and the LEDs look terrific. Turns a lot of heads when I have the DRLs running. Great product!
The protection it will give and the running light
After having my Jeep for less than two months, I got a flying rock on the interstate leaving a crack in my windshield. That put me in the market for a deflector. I was going to get something fairly basic when I came across the AVS Lightshield Hood Protector. I really liked the idea of the LED lights.
I had a couple of issues with the installation that keep me from giving this a full five stars. Installing the deflector itself is pretty straightforward, but you should be aware that the instructions are not Jeep specific. This especially becomes an issue for wiring if you don’t have experience with this kind of thing (which was my case). After running the wire and connecting it to the parking light, I could not get any signal to the LEDs. I ended up taking it to a local custom auto shop and was charged $25 to get it working. That was reasonable considering he fixed it right away, and it was very hot outside where he was working. But if the instructions had been specific to the Jeep’s wiring, perhaps I wouldn’t have needed to take it to someone else for the final step.
Also, according to the instructions, there’s supposed to be a hole in the deflector for running the wire. There was no hole! Not a huge deal since all I had to do was drill a hole in the plastic, but this seemed like an odd oversight since the instructions said it should be there.
Finally, look closely at the example photo, which I believe comes from AVS. The example photo does not look to me exactly like the actual product. The lights are merely a flex strip with LEDs strung along a channel in the deflector. The example photo gives an impression that there are lights encased in the deflector—that’s what it looks like to me anyway. I will attempt to post a couple of photos of the deflector on my Mojito JLU. Note also that the example photo from AVS has the LED lights in groups of four. Mine has lights in groups of three. Not a huge deal, but it’s odd that the photo doesn’t look quite the same.
In spite of the nitpicks above, I really like this deflector. My main concern was that the lights might look a little gaudy. They don’t. The lights connect to the parking light, so if the parking light is on, the deflector LED lights are on. This should increase visibility at night. The lights are below the driver’s field of vision, so it’s not a distraction while driving.
It looks cheap, the taped "light bar" bubbles out. Looks good at night but terrible during the day
It looks great but unfortunately the water goes inside LED light from forst wash abs I ask for replacement they won’t agreed to replace . So sad , I asked them many times and no point at all
Very disappointed! Looks great but the wind drag on our one touch 2020 Jeep Rubicon was HORRIBLE!. Had to remove it. Have always used AVS but they were no help with this one. It had never been tested on a one touch according to their tech. Wouldn't purchase!.
