Reviews for Quadratec Softbond 5-Layer Full Car Cover for 07-22 Jeep Wrangler JK & JL Unlimited
Easy to put on and take off. Appears to be good quality material. The first day we put it on there were pretty severe winds in the area approaching 70 mph. It did not budge. It has been on the Jeep for a few showers with no water getting into the vehicle. My only dislike is the cable/lock system at the bottom to secure it. It is pretty useless and would not keep anyone/anything out.
I hope it fits and works on my Jeep with the top on.
The last cover was better than any other I've had before.
4 Stars as has no tie down spots. Bought this for long term storage of my JKUR. It is large enough to cover vehicle even with an aftermarket front bumper, with winch and bull bar, and aftermarket rear bumper with tire carrier. It comes with only 1 grommet hole on each side. Went to Harbor Freight and bought a grommet kit. Installed 2 ea. on each side and in the front and rear of the cover. Used 3 ea. 6 foot tie down straps under the rig to secure it. Next time I will use 2 ea. 16 foot ones going front to rear too. I really like the softness on the inside-no scuffing of the paint. Seems to be very durable and time will tell if it is.
Gets the job done! No real complaints other than there isn't a way to put it on without taking the antenna off. We ended up getting the bullet antenna so it now works with no issue.
Don't love the need to cut out a hole for antenna. Other than that, works well. Helped keep the pollen off the Jeep.
I received yesterday (28NOV2018) and installed today unto my Wrangler Unlimited. Please see photos. I am so far satisfied with my purchase and highly recommend. It fits but aftermarket items may impede fitment a little. Shipping was excellent and the packaging for shipment and the content are better than was expected.
I have gone through two of these covers in three years. Each one lasted about 15-18 months in St. Thomas, an environment with high sun and occasional rain not too different from southern Florida. The cover eventually failed as the layered material broke down and began to turn to a fine gray dust. Each started to disintegrate after about one year of use, and note the cover only has a one-year warranty. The dust was not dirt, but actual disintegration of the outer layers. Eventually this led to the fabric tearing as it weakened. I assume this was caused by UV as the cover held up great with the wind.
This cover has been a cheap alternative to keeping UV destroying my Jeep, so my paint still looks great. They never were really good at keeping rain out, but to their credit they are described as water-resistant and not waterproof. I never had issue with water pooling underneath as the material seems to breathe well and allow moisture to escape. But I had some water that leaked to my floor mats through the top of my door seals. I would never consider using this cover outdoors without a Jeep top.
I am now debating whether to buy yet another of these or paying a lot more money for something more durable. You get what you pay for, but I expect more from a $150 cover. The next step up is a $600 Covercraft which is pretty hard to digest at more than 4x the price.
We had a storm pop up and the next morning I had 1” of water in the floorboard, along with my ac-heater, radio inoperative. If you are looking for a waterproof cover, do not purchase this. The statement is located near the bottom of the description. I missed it. I have an appointment with the Jeep service department tomorrow, so I can give them several hundred dollars. ‘12 Wrangler sport.
I don't ever write reviews. However, to prevent other people from having the same problem I feel it is necessary.
I purchased this cover for the sole purpose of preventing water from entering the cab while my roof is off. Unfortunately, the first rain storm experienced with the cover on left my interior completely soaked. I called Quadratec to discuss the issue and was told the water is most likely condensation and I can return the top for a full refund. I never knew there could be so much condensation to completely soak the interior of my vehicle from a 45 minute rain storm. Now the interior of my brand new vehicle (less than 4,000 miles) will smell like mildew. So much for that new car smell. I highly recommend looking elsewhere for a cover.
