Reviews for Smittybilt 76730 Stryker Front Bumper for 07-23 Jeep Wrangler JK, JL, & Gladiator JT
Great look and quality
What a great bumper system! Beautiful and heavy duty when installed. A bit complicated for my skill set, so I had a pro set it up. Glad I did. Perfection. Teamed with a quadratec Q stealth winch, it looks and works great.
Light looking and clean looking. Sick of the bulky look to my Jeep
I don’t know who said this was easy to install, but by yourself, super PITA, get a friend to help, what Quadratec says 2-4 hours is more like 5-6 if you’re a broke down old man going at this alone! Overall solid bumper, looks nice and feels sturdy. Wench is a bit close to the grill.
Great bumper, easy to install, and looks great. I went to order the light bar but the one they add to the bumper is the 10", but that's not the right one.
Bumper was package great. Looks like they listened to the complains. Looks great on my Gladiator. Watch YouTube videos prior to self installation. The instructions were hard to follow.
Just got the Stryker bumper put on my Gladiator..The fit is great and the look is on point!
Love the look of this bumper...instructions could be a bit better fo the jl model.
Ordering
This was an excellent experience with Quadratec no issues.
Description
The description states that it is compatible with OEM fog lights, this is not true depending on which version of the JL you have. I have a 2020 Willys with LED fog lights and they do NOT fit. You either need to modify the bumper or purchase JL-Sahara-Rubicon & JT-Overland-Rubicon Stock Bumper
Shipping
Shipping was fast, actually too fast for me I had to postpone delivery as I was out of town. The box arrived via a trucking company in perfect condition. I have read horror stories on how bad the packaging was. This was shipped on a skid with a no stack cone on top.
Installation
Installation was more difficult than I expected. The instructions are terrible and are mostly for the JK. There are more parts than listed in the instruction sheet. Brackets that come are not used in fact there are a lot of parts that are not used on the JL. The instructions were so bad that even Smittybilt tech support were unsure. A few calls and emails and finally just did what I thought would work based on their recommendation.
Light Bar
I have not found a light bar that actually fits the way I would like it. So, I purchased a cheap light off amazon to see how well it will hold up.
Weight
The front end will sag about an inch from the weight of the bumper and winch.
Overall, I am very pleased with the bumper and have received several compliments on how it looks. I think I might eventually pick up the extensions to have on hand in case I move to state that requires a full width bumper.
Nice features and style with factory fog retention, stubby/modular, light bar mount, lower profile winch mount, not too heavy, and sturdy skid plate.
The unboxing could have been better - the packaging had fallen apart, and part of the stinger/light bar required sanding and repainting. Also, the instructions were OK, but they left out exactly what screws to use how, plus the JL spacer plates were never mentioned - I found out what those were when I had to uninstall and reinstall the whole thing. Instructions were close but not exact for an '18 Rubicon, so fog light removal had a few more steps and the lower skid plate bar did not have a threaded hole - but I made it work plus had to drill 2 holes wider to make them line up.
The winch plate is sturdy, and holds my Smittybilt X20 10k lb synthetic nicely although room for wires is tight and winch cover stays put. The rest of the bumper is quite light weight steel, except for the skid plate (which is a good thing). Off road it held up great including at 30 degree pitch at the bottom of a hill, skid plate is fine despite a few rocks, and the mount was sturdy when I spooled the winch with my car.
Smittybilt, fix your packaging and instructions, but otherwise I really like it!
