Reviews for Crown Automotive Door Handle Master Kit for 81-06 CJ Series, YJ Wrangler and TJ and Unlimited with Full Steel Doors
COLOR
Good fit. Clips wedge in nice and tight.
The interior handles were as good as OEM in my experience. The lock label was in the correct orientation for my 1993 Wrangler. Not sure if they had sent out a bad batch but I had seen that comment in previous reviews.
Externally, the exterior handle is perfect. The locking wedges were smaller than my OEM ones but worked fine when installed with the new exterior door handles. What was not good, is the small spring clips that click into the teeth of the locking wedges. These clips did not angle down enough at all to engage with the teeth, I swapped them for my original clips and it worked fine. Warning though, these clips can be rusted and snap so remove carefully if you need to use the originals.
Exterior handles more OEM like than the Omix version. Weird polished look on the inner part…seems weird. Seems painted or plastic.
Gator locks and rod snaps are great. No clip pin or washer for rod attachment to external handle…why not add those less than a penny part.
Internal are total trash. LOCK label on wrong side and these are really awful feeling and gimmicky. Not worth the money to send back. Throw them away and keep the rest.
The world just gets cheaper.
Was able to install this kit without too much difficulty and was pleased until the passenger side interior handle snapped (after only being in one month) when a passenger was getting out. Very happy with the customer service as item is warranteed for a year and they shipped a replacement immediately.
This review is in two parts: Outside and Inside.
Outside: These latches get a 5/5 and are absolutely stellar. Gone are the days of almost smacking myself in the face trying get the paddle door handles to work.
Inside: These latches may have worked okay but I didn't install them. Why? Because the lock status is printed backwards on the rocker switch (lock is unlock and unlock is lock) Which in this day and age is simply too careless to mention or accept. I opted to save my old units which were just gummed up; they're acceptable now.
Quadratec customer service was awesome with regards to the poor QA and the labeling...took good care of the situation.
Items fit as they should. The clips on the outside handles needed to be worked on to ensure they caught the gator clips that locked the handle in place. The inside handles were a pain to install with the plastic locking clamps that went around the bars for the locking mechanism and the pull handle positioned in a less than convenient position. Once installed, with the first pull on the inside passenger handle, the handle broke.
Quadratec was great and sent me a replacement handle, but different brand, that was easier to install and seems to be working great. Part quality is about middle of the road for this set but Quadratec Support was great and I would rate them 5 stars with the equipment being 3 stars. They sent me the new part no questions asked and did not require me to send back the broken handle.
Interior handles are cheaply made. My wife broke the passenger side after only a few months.
Looked good after first install and have worked well for a year now. But the exterior handle is already fading and I didn’t use the interior because the lock logo was on the incorrect side. So when locked the door would be unlocked and vice versa.
The exterior door handles are starting to rust already after ~2 months. Much better than the original which were totally rusted out but still.
