Reviews for Boom Mat Sound Deadening Headliner for 18-21 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited 4-Door
My brother has this in his Rubicon and it really helps deaden outside noise and enhances the quality of the sound system.
They were exactly what I ordered in the shipping was faster than it was expected to be their great all-around great service

This product works great! There is a noticeable reduction in tire and road noise, and noise from the engine seems to be reduced as well. The real game changer though is the improved sound quality from my stereo. I have the base stereo and was regretting not getting the upgraded sound system. With these headliners, the stereo sounds 100% better! It sounds like I upgraded to a high end system. The music is much clearer and crisper and fills the cab perfectly! My only negative comment is that there are some wrinkles in the headliner when installed, but they are not very noticeable. Overall, very pleased!
The complete deadening kit with rear window kit has made a huge difference in interior sound quality!
Excellent product at half the price of the factory option. Noticeable difference in cabin noise. It also kept the interior cooler on hot days.
make a huge difference with temperature and reducing road noise. alpine stereo does sound better as well. keep in mind that only the pads that go on the freedom tops are 1" thick, the rest are 1/2". really need to remove top to install properly.
love them.
I have a serious noise issue in my JLU, and being an engineer that works for a large audio-visual integrator, the first place I went to solve some of the acoustics was the hardtop. Lots of noise bouncing around in there, let alone the wind noise.
I measured the pre-installation decibel levels with a c-weighted meter (wish I had used a spectral analyzer, you'll see why in a minute); idle was just above 70 dB SPL, and driving straight into a 20 MPH headwind at 75 MPH, I was running 95-104 dB SPL (I now know this is indicative of a much larger issue with the front seal on the freedom tops).
The moment began installing the rear side window boom mats, I heard significant changes in the acoustics of the vehicle (I had my radio jamming, as I'm sure most of us do when we work on our cars), and the farther along my installation went, the better the overall acoustics felt. So, the radio actually sounds worlds better, as the Jeep's acoustics are vastly improved.
Installation was easy, and the custom-cut panels look great.
Idle dBU SPL dropped by 3, exactly as they mention in the description.
What's shocking was the reduction in other road noises; my knobby tires always caused a low frequency reverberation (at low speeds) that drove my wife insane; these are now gone, for the most part, at all speeds. Of course, you expect a lot of reverberation reduction when matting foam, anyway; but I never realized quite how much there was until installation.
At highway speeds, though (75 MPH), I ranged 80-95 dB SPL. That's a SOLID 10dB SPL reduction, and from a perception standpoint, it now sounds HALF as loud in my jeep at highway speeds. I was actually able to hear a number of other problems, mainly with how the freedom panels aren't correctly interfacing with the front windshield, and I'm currently working to eliminate those issues to make the cab as quiet as it should be.
I highly recommend this product; even if you don't have the dreaded freedom panel wind noise issue, it really changes the acoustics of the cab an abates other noises you're not even aware of!
This was first upgrade I did with my new JL, I had these in my JK. Changes the noise and keeps temperatures level at all times. These are way better then the OEM that come on some models, and the OEM cost 3 times more. It completely changes the interior of your Jeep, it’s a must have. Insulation is easy, it says to take off complete top, but if you take your time you can do it with top on
It's made a big difference when it comes to sound and temperature inside the jeep. The sound doesn't bounce around inside anymore, no echoes, and I've felt a noticeable change with the heat not escaping through the roof and vice versa. Worth it.
