Reviews for Go Rhino 371200T Rockline Full Width Rear Bumper for 18-21 Jeep Wrangler JL
I am giving Quadratec 5 stars and Go Rhino 1 star. At no fault of Quadratec (ship from a third party), Go Rhino decided that shipping my bumper in Styrofoam and plastic wrap was enough. Bumper came with the paint scuffed on pretty much every end that could touch the ground. I didn't return it because I didn't want to deal with the headache and I really liked the bumper. No instructions included but fortunately Quadratec keeps the instructions online but that doesn't excuse Go Rhino. They actually cut the shipping label off the original box and taped them to the bumper packaging. You will also need to do a little cutting as other folks did for the hitch receiver since the 4 plug side rides up against the bumper, so you won't be able to get it open. Go Rhino's instructions are top notch but unfortunately their shipping department is sub par. I did mention all this to Quadratec and they made things right and hopefully they will relay this experience to their Go Rhino representative. I for one will not be purchasing another Go Rhino product any time soon. On the other hand, I will continue to shop with Quadratec because they have not let me down. Thanks Quadratec, Go Rhino is a No Rhino.
Looks
I have a 2021 JL 4XE Wrangler. My old '18 JL I had to use a tire mounted License and remembered what a pain it was to run a wire there for the light: I swore never to do that again. Also my old bumper looked unfinished as though it needed a mud flap or something.
The features that attracted me to this Go Rhino bumper is the included License plate bracket.. I also ordered the LED License Plate Light, Quadratec Part #: 12066.1100. It not only looks great, but it plugged directly into the factory wiring, where the original factory bumper had been attached. Very easy.
As noted by others, I needed the sensor brackets, which I had to fiddle with. And had to install 4 washers as spacers on each of the 2 bolts holding on the wiring socket.. Additionally, I found that the original hitch has a metal bracket that is used to hold the plastic bumper, it has to be removed. All the nuts have to be removed that holds the hitch, mine were very tight, I had to use a 3 foot breaker bar, and barely got them off. Otherwise the installation was easy, even by myself.
It looks great, I would buy it again, and highly recommend it.
great great bumper! came well wrapped and protected, and shipped real quick. when it comes to the installation, it is pretty straightforward. As other people say, if you have the hitch package on your JL, there are some additional steps that you have to do in order to ensure the hitch is still usable and that the wire hookup for trailer lights is accessible. First thing is to remove the hitch in its entirety, it'll make installation easier and allow you the space to move the bumper into place. if you leave the hitch on it'll be harder to wiggle the new bumper into place. also, of course having another person to help out with holding the bumper. Other people recommend buying spacers to lower the wiring hookup about an 1/2 inch or so. I ended up using some spare nuts from the removal of the OEM bumper and placing in between the wiring hookup in order to space it down and lower it and it worked like dream. fits perfectly. One last thing is that if you do plan to install cube lights into it, do it after you install the bumper on to the jeep. I went ahead and installed some KC C3 cube lights before installing the bumper and ended up having to remove them in order to have space to bolt in the number on the side mounts internally, and then having to re mount the cube lights into place. other than that, everything is great, looks great and performs great too. the only little inconvenience is that the mesh cover on the cube lights does emit a shadow on the light and you can see the mesh. but its all good
Everyone else has addressed the tow package issue, so if you purchase this without reading reviews, don’t get upset and worked up. The bumper itself is very clean looking and solidly made. For the price you can’t go wrong.
The Go Rhino Rockline bumper is well made and came boxed well. It was wrappedpadded very well in the box. I followed the advice of the other reviewers and ordered the assorted Mopar parking sensor bezels and brackets. As the other reviewers have said, if you have the towing package you will need to shim the receiver bolts and drop the electrical plug box. It was really helpful to know this before starting work
The sensor indexing on the bumper did not put the bezels in anywhere near the correct alignment. I was especially careful to make certain that the bezels and brackets were put in the proper position on the bumper but they were not aligned correctly and did not work. After a couple of hours aiming the sensors in by eye and having the outer sensors turned so the are “looking” out a bit I did get it to work.
All in all, it is a nice looking bumper that was easy to install, but Go Rhino should improve the sensor situation.
Easy to install and looks good. Only issue was with parking sensors install, but see below for how to remedy.
IF YOU HAVE AN OEM TOW PACKAGE YOU WILL NEED TO DO THE FOLLOWING: (Thanks Tom L. who also said this was the case)
Unscrew the 2 REMAINING bolts holding the hitch into the frame and insert a 1/2” spacer or 1/2" thick set of washers reduce the amount of thread that sticks out the other side or trim off the end of those two bolts.
The bumper will not mount straight with those threads sticking out.
Unscrew the 9 pin connector and insert 1” spacer or 1" thick set of washers onto each bolt, lowering the harness as you will not be able to open the plug cap.
PARK DISTANCE SENSORS:
The installation manual assumes you have a Mopar factory steel bumper now. If you don't and have a plastic bumper (ordered plastic because I knew I was taking it off) and have the park distance sensors that will transfer over, you must order these additional parts to mount the new sensors:
Mopar 68295600AC Rear Bumper Parking Sensor Mounting Bracket Jeep Wrangler JL (Middle Right)
Mopar 68295601AC Rear Bumper Parking Sensor Mounting Bracket Jeep Wrangler JL (Middle Left)
Mopar 68295602AC Rear Bumper Parking Sensor Mounting Bracket Jeep Wrangler JL (Outer Right)
Mopar 68295603AC Rear Bumper Parking Sensor Mounting Bracket Jeep Wrangler JL (Outer Left)
Mopar 6MH82RXFAB Rear Parking Sensor Bezel for 18-19 Jeep Wrangler JL (Middle Right)
Mopar 6MH83RXFAB Rear Parking Sensor Bezel for 18-19 Jeep Wrangler JL (Middle Left)
Mopar 6MH84RXFAB Rear Parking Sensor Bezel for 18-19 Jeep Wrangler JL (Outer Right)
Mopar 6MH85RXFAC Rear Parking Sensor Bezel for 18-19 Jeep Wrangler JL (Outer Left)
If you jack up the small rubber ring around the tip of the sensor taking it out, that's part # 68289851AA
Hope this helps others not have to wait to order those parts to remount sensors!
I spent a few months looking at every bumper out there for around 550 bucks. This is the best out of them. There are barely any welds. Bumper is modern looking with molded round edges instead of big thick welds that look like a machine shop mess. All holes line up and mounts in 1 hour (excluding the time to take off the stock plastic slab). Some points you should know about: IF YOU HAVE AN OEM TOW PACKAGE YOU WILL NEED TO DO THE FOLLOWING: unscrew the 4 bolts holding the hitch into the frame and insert a 1/2” spacer of some sort to reduce the amount of thread that sticks out the other side. The bumper will not mount straight with those threads sticking out. Unscrew the 9 pin connector and insert 2 1” washers of some sort, lowering the harness as you will not be able to open the plug cap. So these things first and save yourself a lot of time and aggravation. Best bumper on the market. The step is a genius idea for those with a spare tire delete. They make full use of that platform, which is normally wasted space. There are also 2 hooks on the back. This is very nice feature.
I just installed this Go Rhino Rockline full width rear bumper. Installation was not too difficult. I needed to do a little grinding on the factory welds on the frame. Looks great and provides much better protection than the 15 pound (maybe) factory bumper. I also purchased the LED license plate bolts. I took Adam M’s advice and used 2 factory nuts from the removal of the old bumper to drop the factory hitch wiring plugs down to allow for opening and closing of the four pin connector. If you have a factory receiver hitch, you will need to shorten the bolts as they make contact with the bumper and will actually impede installation. Overall, I am exceptionally happy with this bumper.
Overall, removal of the factory bumper and install of the GoRhino Rockline went well. I ordered the Mopar OEM plastic bezels and brackets for my backup sensors. Fitting those into the bumper was tricky to get the right setting/angle so the sensors weren’t triggered erroneously, but I got it done. The tow package on the JL does present an issue with the plug housing unit—the bumper prevents the 4-pin cover from opening/closing. I used two nuts from the removal of my OEM bumper that happen to have the same thread pitch to put some space between the housing and the frame, which cleared the bumper fine. I also mounted 3” LEDs for backup lights and tied them into my 7-pin plug backup lighting wire. For license plate lighting I clipped the OEM cable and reconnected it to some LED plate bolts. Very satisfied with the package Quadratec put together for me. My Jeep is a 2018 Hellayella Sahara JLU. I’ll post some pics here.
