Reviews for Quadratec Delrin Replacement Door Hinge Bushings with American Outlaw EZ On Door Pin Guides for 94-06 Jeep Wrangler YJ and TJ
These bushings are super smooth, the door opens and closes without effort now. The guide pins are good when one person is installing the doors. We don't leave the guide pins on while the door is reinstalled, fear of vibration loosing them. All around a great product.
Exactly what is needed to tighten up those loose hinges.
Great kit for my 05 LJR. Clear & easy instructions like your description states. Thank you!
Slick bushings MADE IN THE USA. Showing a friend after the swap & I laughed it was so much easier. Do it people! No regrets.
I cannot comment on the Outlaw door pin guides. Previous owner jacked up the threads.
Plenty of salt in winter for north NJ, so my bottom sleeves and pins were worse than the top. It is what it is. The knock out pin was great. I played the drums, so I have no problems hitting things with a light hammer. The great instructions show the cardboard trick if you need it. Including TWO strips of emory cloth in the kit wouldn’t break your bank folks. : )
Good stuff, doors open nice and come off easy.
Three of my old bushings came out no problem, one was difficult as the hinge knuckle was bent. Can't blame them for that. Used a vice to bend the metal back and it came out easier and now my door hangs straight. Cleaned up the hinge knuckles and the bushings installed easily. Cleaned up the pins on my full doors and cloth half doors, then installed the guide pins on the full doors. The bushings are working well, everything fits nicely. The guide pins on the full doors make it much easier to put them on. This is a good thing as I live in the PNW and switch my doors often.
Definitely helps, less door dancing. Getting old OE sleeves out was "fun" but the supplied tool worked well enough.
I think these are great, my only reason for one star is that it only comes with two pin guides. I don't understand why you would only have two. But that's on my for not noticing it when I ordered them.
As for the bushing themselves, they are definitely an improvement on my old beat up, rusted ones. The tool that came with it made it fairly easy to remove the old bushings. There was some struggle with a couple, but that's due to them being almost 15 years old and as I said, rusted and beat up. Anyone who complains that the tool didn't work well isn't taking into account that the tool can only do so much when what it's working on isn't in great shape.
Highly recommend getting these, but be aware that there are only two pin guides.
Work perfectly would prefer the inserts to be virgin Teflon or brass.
Overall, the product is mostly as advertised, however, the entire process is much easier said than done. I have an '03 TJ with the original bushings. Removal of those bushings was extremely difficult and the provided tool was virtually no help at all. In fact, the tool caused the lower hinge on my passenger side to rotate slightly while attempting to hammer out the old bushing. This required me to readjust the hinge itself and I need to use other tools to remove the old bushing.
Once I got the new bushings in, they were an extremely tight fit. Removing the doors is quite a bit more difficult than before, but still doable. On the bright side, the driver door aligns better with the hinge and operates more effectively. This would likely be true on the passenger side as well if it weren't for permanent damage done from the old bushings wearing out.
I would recommend this product, however, I would encourage that the purchaser is diligent during installation to ensure that the hinges do not move and that you follow the instructions rather precisely.
A little pricey for what they are but they work great.
