Reviews for Bestop All-New Trektop NX Soft Top for 18-22 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited
I bought the version that was available in 2020. All great EXCEPT the back window makes a HORRENDOUS noise at highway speeds over 60MPH. I tried reinstalling the whole thing but nothing changes. Very disappointed. Is there any chance the newest one has a more improved window design? I wanted to return this but I missed my window by the time I realized this was an issue.
Quality fabric, clean look! Onl3 stars because cheap Allen screws easily strip out, sun rider top does not fold flat. Allow about 12” clearance above vehicle with top open. Can’t even pull in garage with top open!
had a hard time putting the back of the soft top on the jeep , When I finished installing the rear window assembly. the latch system didn't work properly. The latch went in but would not stay closed. Also there is a gap from the bottom of window assembly. and the vehicle rear door. The gap is more than 1 inch wide. Installation was more then 3 hrs.
I bought the heavier material and it appears to be fairly heavy duty. Road noise isn't too bad at 70mph. My box came ripped, taped, and looked like it was dragged to NY. I called and was offered a pick up, but I declined. I just wanted it documented in case something was missing. Had to take Jeep for service before getting top on. I finally get time to assemble, and the frame of the flip-top is bent almost into a 'C' shape. I managed to bend it back in place and works without any difficulty. I didn't realize that it does not open for the backseat as well, it remains covered with the front open. ***Bad design note - the weather strip falls off constantly and seems to be cut a bit short. I will try glue as someone mentioned in another review.***
Overall I love the look of the Top. I am disappointed for the price that the Rubber Seal on back window always falls off. I will try to glue it on like someone else suggested. The back window flaps a little at speeds 75+ but the noise is not awful. The sun rider is so easy to use.
Just a little disappointed for the price of this top. My back right window panel will not stay tucked under the rail in the back where in overlaps the rear window panel. For this kind of money there should be no flaws. At about 76 mph you do start to get a little pop in the rear window panel. When following behind an 18 wheeler, the turbulence does make the top frame make some noises. As far as the material, it seems nice. After sitting in the sun for a few hours, where you grab the top in the center to flip the sun rider back get H O T!!! Dont put anything in the map pockets you dont mind getting hot.
First off Quadratec is an amazing Company. Now this new Bestop JL review. I've had 2 before on my JK and only issue was the rear tail gate rubber seal fell off both. Glued it and problem solved. JL top did the same tail gate rubber seal fell off in 10 seconds of install. Gorilla glue clear 10 sec bond and it's fixed. For 830 bucks and 4 yrs 3 tops I would think this would be fixed by now. Install and all the small parts/bolts is a little more time consuming -vs- the JK. Took me about 2.5 hrs by myself. Make sure you have all the tools lined out before you start. I havent had any loud flapping yet at highway speed. But the back window moves around a lot. No leaks. Road noise is about the same as a hard top. Heating and Cooling is no different. Bikini top and no side/back windows I still think the JK looks better. The sunrise is very good. Just make sure you line up the arms on install or it will hit on the plastic trim piece. Over all I'm happy with the look, kinda. Just understand there are some issues with flapping and the rubber tailgate rubber. It's a Jeep Soft Top not a Hard Top !!
If you lay everything out and follow the instructions its very easy to install. Looks great but the only issue is on hot days the rear window will flap at 60mph and above. If you open a window it lessens the flapping. But overall its a very well constructed top and its great for the days when you just want to flip the top open.
The install instruction book is horrible. Recommend just following a YouTube video for installation to begin with. Also, screws stripped out rather easily so avoiding power screw driver is probably not worth the risk.
First I absolutely love the look of the top on my JL. I love the look of the fastback and the quality of the material seems to be really good. With that being said I do have issues/ complaints about it. First issue is that it almost seems too small. When fully installed one side of the top barely covers the top of the Jeep, which allows the wind to get under it and really makes the back window vibrate. Second the design of the back is really poor. There’s a solid bar that goes across the trunk which prohibits you from fitting large objects in your trunk. I don’t know if the material needs to stretch more or what either but the panels are so hard to get back on when you take them off. I do like the top but for what I spent on it I am a little disappointed with the design flaws and easy of use.
