Reviews for Quadratec Premium Heated LED Projector Beam Headlights for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
They are heated
The lighting quality is excellent, and installation was a piece of cake. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that the heating part does not completely melt all the snow & ice off the lens, but it does keep at least the top half clear so the low beams stay unobstructed.
Ordered the heated ones before Christmas and darned glad I did with this winter storm. They performed in freezing drizzle and snow as advertised. Virtually no ice formed at all while driving in the mess.
These do have a rather strange beam projection which had to be adjusted quite a bit from factory adjustments, hence the 4 instead of 5. Install was really easy and a perfect replacement fit. very happy with this set and would recommend to others. JW quality at a working mans price (although some overtime hours were involved:) )
Hard to say if its a 4 or a 3.
Overall fit up and everything is as you expect, its a headlight, not rocket science.
However after installing and putting the front back together, then testing (in that order unfortunately) I find that the DRL, and high beam on one headlight isn't working. Switch the headlights around to double check it isn't my wiring for some reason. Yep, got a set where one's DRL and the high beam wasn't working.
Customer service gets 5*/5*. I have a brand new pair on the way, so at least one of those two has to fully work, right? Haven't received the replacements yet.
I was running Hella e-spec H4 headlights with 80w/100w bulbs. These put out the same amount of light with literally 1/4th the power consumption. When I had the Hellas fired up I couldn't even pump air into my tires at idle, the voltage dropped down too far and the pump cut off (low voltage protection circuit in the pump). Plus it burnt out H4 bulbs at a ridiculous pace, leading at least once to me having to bum a bulb off of someone else during an offroading trip.
So how do they compare to the Hellas? Well, one star off because the light pattern is slightly messy compared to the Hellas. Hella has had 100 years to get reflector design down right for incandescent bulbs and they've nailed it. However, these are definitely good enough, and tons better than stock (which was downright dangerous). As a bonus, the low beam cutoff hits exactly at the same point as it did with the Hellas, meaning I didn't need to mess with my headlight adjusters to keep from blinding people.
Feelings are mixed, low beams are ok, will continue to do some adjusting, High beams seem great, haven't tried out the heating component.
Installation of older JK may require you to replace your female H13/9008 receptor as it may not work after removal, my experience with the driver side. Otherwise install is pretty simple. Loosen grill but did not disconnect turn signal and had plenty of room. Will follow with more feedback on Ice/Snow conditions.
Bought 2 sets of these for our 2 JKUs. My 1st set went on my wife’s ‘16. They had to be replaced under warranty twice. Now they aren’t working properly once again as one bulb lights only sometimes.
The set on my ‘15 worked fine until recently. I believe these are out of warranty now too. My set has one bulb that is noticeably dimmer and then turns off completely when switched to high beams.
I purchased these for the heated lens. I was hoping to eliminate ice and snow buildup on the headlights of my 2010 JK. I had been running JW Speaker lights prior to installing these. My first experience driving in the snow with the heated headlights was not as good as I had expected. I drove for an hour, in 25 deg. f, dry snow conditions. When I arrived at my destination I was disappointed to find that the heated headlights had ice buildup on the lower half of the headlight lens. Based on my previous experience with LED headlamps, I would say that the heated lens helped somewhat, but not as well as expected. A plus for this light is output is good on low beam, very good on high beam.
