Reviews for Quadratec JWSUBK10 Custom Rear Subwoofer Kit with 10" Kicker CompS Subwoofer for 87-06 Jeep Wrangler YJ & TJ
Wow! Best way to describe the moment I finished the installation and played my first song. The sound and bass response was impressive and exceeded my expectations. I brought my 1999 Wrangler TJ to an excellent local audio store and they quoted me $900. So I decided to do it myself and save some money. Now, I have not installed a sub and amp before in a car. You could call me a novice for sure. My experience with the installation was a little trial and error since the instructions that were included were lacking good guidance for a novice. I think a video of an installation of the subwoofer and amp would be an excellent addition for all future purchasers. A reminder, that you must purchase the wiring if your car is not already pre-wired for an existing system. I hooked everything up and I couldn't figure out what to do with the blue remote wire since it said to connect to the head unit and the amp. I wasn't quite sure where to attach it to the wiring harness head unit. But with a little searching and a little luck, I found the correct corresponding wire and spliced it. Remember to tighten down all connections. I also installed two more L-brackets to further stabilize the subwoofer and reduce the chance of rattling. The delivered unit was missing one of the self-tapping bolts and I luckily had one to use. My sons and daughter were impressed by the sound and my wife just rolled her eyes and sighed (LOL!). Overall, I gave 5-stars for the sound quality and quality of the product. I would give 3-4 stars for the included instructions but I don't want to reduce the stars based on my novice experience with the installation.
I agree with the other positive reviews. This little box hits awesome in my 99 TJ. Great addition to my Sony MEX-XB120BT and 4-Kicker 5.25 speakers. I only had one issue with the install. The wrong hold down screws were sent with my unit and I had to add another L bracket on the back of the box. The two that are included do not keep the box firm on the floor. I had other anchor screws around and did like the 2 short drill bits included. I didn't worry about drilling into some under the floor. I have an automatic so I ran the remote knob up to the cup holder and used a piece of Velcro to secure it. Looks good and no holes drilled. Happy with my purchase and would recommend.
Thank you Quadratec
Great bang for the buck. I have a 2000 wrangler. The amp/speaker came with great instructions. You can install this yourself!! I spent an evening on it. I had an aftermarket head unit so easy to just connect RCAs and blue wire, down along drivers door and under carpet. Power from battery was easy along firewall and through rubber gromet which i just sliced with a razor blade and pushed through then along door and then under carpet. I did however place the remote control to adjust base towards the very bottom of my dash inline where the throttle pedal is as the hand break location did not allow me much room. So i got it all done and no power light to Amp. Saturday morning i called and happened to catch Bob doing some paper he walked me through it and told me my ground was not grounded and to use the bolt he included. That fixed it!!! Now im rockin!!! Could not believe he would take time out on a Saturday and walked me through my whole system and settings Best customer service ever!!!
Great product ! I too called the number on the instructions and spoke with Bob from CFE products. He couldn't have been more helpful and provided guidance as to potential in dash speakers and head units and other upgrades that I may want to consider from Quadratec . In the end I got a kickin system that my friends cant believe that I did myself... Thanks Bob
Awesome product, for a single sub, the bass hits hard, the box fits perfect in the trunk and has all the supplied hardware to bolt it down, and also the customer service is amazing, as my first time installing and wiring a sub, i called up the number on the directions and was walked through basically the whole thing and he even helped me tune my system.
