Reviews for Borla Touring 2.5" Axle Back Exhaust System for 18-20 Jeep Wrangler JL 3.6L
A little better sound and hopefully a little better performance
Quality brand. Sound and aesthetics fit my desire.
Perfect exhaust for me. I actually tried the S-Type first, thought it was good at first, but then after 2 weeks realized it was way too loud for me. The Touring is just the right sound. A little extra hum without waking up the neighborhood. The dual exhaust look is epic for Jeeps.
My '22 Wrangler Rubicon 2-door was just delivered. I traded an '18 Wrangler Rubicon. It had a Magnaflow black dual exhaust. I had been happy with the sound, but not with the rust at the welds. Giving the Borla a try.
I had the Borla installed at a muffler place and it took literally 10 minutes from removing the stock exhaust to having the Borla in place. A lift makes all the difference. They also did a spot weld and painted it to assure no rattles in the future. Looks great from the back!
As far as the sound, hmmm. It's louder than stock. Has a nice deep sound on start up. Not overly loud inside, but in the 70-71mph range, a noticeable drone. (I have a hard top). Most of my driving is under that, but, if you will be doing a lot of driving in that range. it is something to consider.
Does not hug the rear bumper as much as I'd like. Does not make alot more noise- which I do like. Would like a deeper tone, but what it has isn't bad- at least I can hear it now, helps with shifting.
The fit is not very good with respect to a 2021 JLU Rubicon. In retrospect I wish I would have returned it and went with another brand. After spending about an hour trying to install it myself, I finally figured out that the expanded female end to slide over the existing exhaust pipe was too small. Taking it in to a muffler shop to have it installed was $178, after which I found the pipe between the muffler and existing pipe hits a control arm on bumps. Taking it back to the muffler shop today, I don't think it will slide onto the existing exhaust pipe far enough, may need to cut 1/2 off or flatten the connector pipe near the control arm to provide more clearance.
