Reviews for Rock Slide Engineering FB-F-101-JL Rigid Front Bumper without Bullbar & with Winch Plate for 18-23 Jeep Wrangler JL & Gladiator JT
First rate bumper. This smooth texture black powder coated bumper is fantastic. Well built and solid. On my Sahara the ends move up right to the fenders- a Rubicon with the higher fender flares would leave a bit of a gap. I really like that it’s a full length bumper that doesn’t obstruct that seven slot view. I installed the Quadratec stealth winch and the whole thing looks great. I would defiantly buy again.
This is absolutely first rate. The quality of the bumper finish is comparable to the fit and finish of the Jeep body. The only welds visible are those around the D-ring mounts. The installation is as smooth as silk. It took two of us about an hour and a half to complete the job and we were being very deliberate. Just be aware that the fog light mounting bracket on the bumper was designed for the JL Rubicon lights and my JL Sport light brackets did not fit. A Rock Slide representative told me to try a J.W. Speaker bracket adaptor from Quadratec. It didn't work so I have ordered the JL Rubicon fog light assembly kit. Hopefully it will work. Bottom line, I couldn't be happier with this bumper. I have decided to wait for Rock Slide to develop the rear bumper before I replace that. Jeff in Hilton Head.
Nice solid and well built bumper. Weight was a little lower than I expected, and between the bumper and a Smittybilt X20 winch it only lowered the front 1/4 inch. The cuts and the bolt holes are exactly where they need to be so mounting was easy once all of the old parts were off the Jeep.
I only gave it three stars for two reasons:
First, the welds above where the fog lights sit are both in the way of the light mounting brackets. You either need to grind out the welds or the top of the light bracket to get it to fit. There's also almost a 1/2" gap between the factory LED fogs and the bumper.
Second, it doesn't fit like the pictures in the listing show. It's got a good 1 1/2" between the top of the bumper and the fender on my Rubicon, and it doesn't give as much clearance on the tires as the pictures show. This was one of the reasons I chose this bumper against other full width bumpers, it looked like it fit better and gave the best front tire clearance. I'm sure this fit issue was necessary to make it work both for the Rubicon and for the Sport and Sahara models, but the ad shows it much tighter on a Rubicon.
Overall it's a good bumper, and worth the price. I like the looks and it really does feel solid. Would have been five stars if it fit like it shows in the ad.
Wide gap not as pictured from bumper to flares, bolts required mallet to line up with holes, no mention of Rubicon skid plate interference in product description or fitment, It's on there Im not impressed for the cost.
