Rest easier, all ye who are two-door Jeep Wrangler fanatics.

If the latest spy shots are any indication, Jeep has no plans to do away with the two-door body when its JL Wrangler comes to market sometime next summer.

Some in the industry were concerned Jeep would kill off two-door Wranglers in its next generation in favor of the better selling four-door model, perhaps instead utilizing the two-door body in some type of Comanche midsize pickup.

The Wrangler JL vehicles, spotted testing recently, are again heavily camouflaged – they are prototypes after all – but photographers got a clearer picture of the vehicle’s front end which, thankfully, still displays the traditional seven-slot grille and round headlights.

Also apparent on the test vehicles are LED light strips on the front wheel arches, while the Jeep’s door hinges are still exposed perhaps indicating – at least in these test models – that the doors remain removable.

Photographers also caught a glimpse of the vehicle’s interior which looks identical to the current JK version.

Whether or not Jeep has plans for a newer interior will probably remain a question until the automaker displays its initial JL production vehicle later this fall.

The company has already revealed plans for a redesigned 3.6-liter engine in the JL Wrangler, as well as an optional 3.0-liter EcoDiesel and 2.0-liter turbocharged Hurricane engine.

Production vehicles will come with an 8-speed automatic transmission, but it is still unconfirmed if the JL will have a manual 6-speed option.

The automaker confirmed all JL Wranglers will have traditional solid axles and feature aerodynamic changes like a raked-back windshield and angled front grille, while engineers plan to incorporate more aluminum into the vehicle's body in order to help meet stringent new government fuel regulations.
