Imagine a Jeep Wrangler that can launch itself from a dead stop to 60 MPH in just about the time it took you to read this sentence. No way, right? I mean, after all, the Wrangler is a brick on wheels. Not a chance. Well, stay with us here. Imagine you could get that kind of performance, a 0-60 miles-per-hour in 5.34 seconds type of performance, from a foolproof bolt on kit that installs in under 8 hours. Now, stop imagining. Sprintex has created such a kit. Sprintex, an automotive engineering company based in Perth, Western Australia, is known worldwide as one of the few companies to produce a twin helical screw type supercharger. Their unique patented design is a mechanically driven rotary compressor with two helical lobed rotors, which rotate in opposite directions. One rotor takes the form of the left-hand helix, the other the right hand helix and the two mesh together to form chambers which carry the air. The rotors never touch, but are timed by a pair of gears operating in a lubricated chamber which is separated from the rotor chamber. Over the past few years, Sprintex has turned its eyes on the Jeep industry and engineers have worked hard to build supercharger kits for all Jeep Wranglers from 1997-2015. There are three kits available. One for the 1997-2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ with 4.0L inline six. Another for 2007-2011 Jeep Wrangler with 3.8L V-6. And finally a kit that fits 2012-2015 Wranglers with the 3.6L Pentastar V-6. We visited Sprintex's booth at this years SEMA show in Las Vegas and were greeted by their friendly, knowledgeable staff and a video showing a Wrangler doing donuts in a parking lot. For the record, Gordon from Sprintex said the professional driver they hired to do this stunt was very uneasy going sideways in a Wrangler. The video didn't lie - at one point you see the front inside wheel come off the ground. Sprintex's Gordon said nobody should ever defeat the ESP system in a Jeep, but they did it to demonstrate their product's horsepower output. We'll have the video posted soon on Quadratec.com. In testing, their stock Jeep Wrangler JK specced out at 172 horsepower and 244 ft/lb torque at the wheels. After installing the supercharger kit, it boosted the vehicle to 266 horsepower and 360 ft/lb torque. That's a 54% increase in horsepower and 47% more torque. The kit is bolt-on and fully reversible so you can change your mind later (Not sure why you would, but you can). The kit comes pre-assembled for foolproof installation and includes detailed instructions along with all installation components and hardware. Kits include the twin screw 740 cu ft/min supercharger, high efficiency water-to-air intercooler, radiator and tuner. These kits will be available soon in both our catalog and online at Quadratec.com, so keep your eye out and be one of the first to purchase this incredibly powerful Supercharger. May 2015 ** UPDATE ** Sprintex Superchargers are now available.
