Rugged. Dependable. Dedicated. Fun. When you think about all the terms out there to describe most Jeep enthusiasts, these certainly sit atop the list. However, over the past year, hundreds of area Jeep lovers from around the region have continually come together one Sunday a month to carve out a new term. Helper. You see, these hearty Jeepers along with their friends, family, and many others, regularly attend Quadratec’s Jeeps and Java event held monthly at the company’s West Chester, Pa. headquarters. The event, which began in 2013 as a way for local Jeep owners to get together for some fun conversation and to show off their rides, has blossomed throughout 2014 into a way for everyone who attends to give something back to the community. This year, Quadratec has partnered with Main Line Animal Rescue (MLAR) for many of the events and gladly accepts donations from all attendees. In response, those who donate receive raffle tickets for a chance to win a Quadratec Gift Certificate. The event also offers coffee, doughnuts, special giveaways, vendor advice, as well as the chance to see some of the area’s best-looking Jeeps. The November 2014 Jeeps and Java is set for this Sunday the 9th from 9-11:30 AM and attendees will have the option this month to donate canned goods to benefit the immensely popular WMMR Preston and Steve’s Camp Out for Hunger, as well as supporting the MLAR. “In a nutshell, our Jeeps and Java event is simply a place for local and some non-local people to get together to talk and trade ideas about their Jeeps,” says event coordinator Tony Innaurato. “We get all kinds of people from Grandparents to kids who come out to meet others and see all the different ways people have their Jeeps set up.” Innaurato, a 4-year Quadratec employee, took over the event’s planning in September and says he is humbled by the community’s support. “These people have really come out and shown support for each other and for the MLAR. Every month has been a nice turn out in regards to donations for the rescue shelter.” Main Line Animal Rescue specializes in the rescue and placement of abused, unwanted and abandoned companion animals. By involving and educating the community, MLAR works to raise the public's awareness of the plight of homeless animals as well as realizing the benefits of adopting an animal in need. “We are so appreciative of the donations from Quadratec through Jeeps and Java each month,” says MLAR Development Coordinator Mackenzie Esterly. “The variety of donations, from towels and blankets to food and kitty litter, all help the rescue in a different way. These donations keep us from ordering more supplies and therefore keep our operating expenses down. Gifts like KONGS and other dog or cat toys give the animals entertainment and hours of extracurricular playtime that is needed and fun for the animals.” MLAR recommends the following for anyone looking to donate: General Donation: Gently Used Towels (please NO sheets or bedding) Paper Towels Latex & Non Latex Disposable Gloves Hand Soap Dawn® Dish Soap Donations for Dogs: Flea/Tick Monthly Preventatives Stainless Steel Bowls 6 quart flat-backed stainless steel buckets Crates & Airline Carriers (any size) Food - pop-top wet food (any brand) Donations for Cats Litter - Kitty Soft or newspaper Litter Boxes or Shirt Boxes Cat Toys & Washable Bedding Food - pop-top wet food (any brand) Bowls Cat Carriers Donations for Rabbits: Litter - Care Fresh Timothy Hay Timothy Pellets Yogurt Drops Exercise Pens WMMR’s Preston and Steve Camp out for Hunger has proven each year to be one of the Philadelphia region’s most successful fundraising efforts to attack the area’s hunger problem. The 2013 event raised nearly $250,000 and saw more than 772,000 pounds of food donated to Philabundance – the region’s largest hunger relief organization. “WMMR is proud to support such an important event to benefit Philabundance,” says Eric Simon, WMMR Promotion Director and Camp out for Hunger Coordinator. “Hunger is a community-wide issue, and Preston & Steve are committed to put forth the effort to raise awareness and hundreds of tons of food to help those that are affected. Thanks for your interest in getting involved with this event. You guys rock.” As for the future of Jeep and Java, Innaurato hopes to keep growing the event and continue providing needed support for area organizations. “For 2015, we’d like to raise the bar and focus some support for our future – the kids,” he says. “There are so many of them who are in need of help and anything we can do is a push in the right direction.” Please RSVP for "Jeeps & Java" November 09, 2014 at [email protected]
