LAS VEGAS - Bright Lights, Big City may be a New York thing, but during Monday's pre-SEMA show walk-around in front of the Las Vegas Convention Center, it was definitely apparent some high powered bright lighting was present in this desert city as well.
Dozens of vendor display vehicles from great names like Skyjacker, Anzo, AEV, Omix-ADA, VisionX, and RIPP Superchargers, as well as many others, all sported enough LED wattage on their vehicles to light up half of Las Vegas.
LEDs - light emitting diode - technology has become one of the 'it' things on Jeep vehicles over the past year few years, with vendors providing headlights, fog lights, light bars, and taillights to replace inefficient halogen lighting. LEDs offer almost double the light output over halogen, while consuming less power and giving drivers a more focused light throw.
Jeep itself is putting this lighting upgrade in its 2017 Wrangler editions, both as a standard feature in Rubicon and Sahara models, and an option for Sport and Sport S vehicles. Many believe this will also make the jump into Wrangler's next incarnation, the JL, when the vehicle launches next year.
And during Monday's walk-around, is it certainly a noticeable trend that most likely will only increase in popularity as LED prices continue to fall.
